DFCCIL Signs MoU with ICFAI University to Boost Research, Innovation and Skill Development in Logistics and Supply Chain Management

Partnership to strengthen industry-academia collaboration in supply chain, warehousing, AI and railway technologies

New Delhi: In a significant step toward strengthening India’s logistics and transportation ecosystem, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE), Hyderabad.

The collaboration aims to promote research, innovation, technology integration and skill development in the areas of Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Warehousing, while also supporting the national objectives of the Skill India Mission and Viksit Bharat.

MoU Signed in Presence of DFCCIL MD Praveen Kumar

The MoU was signed in the presence of Praveen Kumar, Managing Director of DFCCIL.

The agreement was formally signed by:

  • Shobhit Bhatnagar
  • Tamma Koti Reddy

The event was convened by S. P. Verma and attended by senior officials from both organizations.

Focus Areas of Collaboration

Under the agreement, DFCCIL and IFHE will jointly work on a long-term framework covering:

  • Industry-academia collaboration
  • Knowledge-sharing and technical workshops

The partnership is expected to generate research-driven solutions to address emerging challenges and opportunities in India’s rapidly evolving freight and logistics sector.

Advanced Technologies to Support Modern Railway Systems

IFHE was selected for collaboration due to its strong research ecosystem and technical initiatives such as IcfaiTech, which specializes in cutting-edge domains including:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Robotics
  • Data Analytics
  • Vehicle Dynamics
  • Industrial Automation

These technologies are highly relevant to modern railway systems, smart freight operations and future-ready logistics infrastructure.

Special Training Programmes for DFCCIL Personnel

Aligned with the Skill India Mission, the MoU will facilitate:

  • Short-term specialized courses
  • Executive development programmes
  • Training modules on emerging technologies
  • Capacity building for DFCCIL employees

The initiative aims to create a technologically skilled workforce equipped to meet the demands of modern logistics and railway infrastructure.

NSIC-Style Industry-Academia Model for Rail Logistics

By combining DFCCIL’s operational expertise with IFHE’s academic and technological strengths, the collaboration is expected to support innovation in freight movement, warehouse optimization and supply chain resilience.
