New Delhi: Engineers India Limited (EIL) has signed a contract worth more than US$450 million with the Dangote Group to serve as Project Management Consultant (PMC) and Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Consultant for a major 700,000 barrels-per-day (BPD) greenfield refinery and petrochemical project in Kenya.
The project marks another major international assignment for EIL and further strengthens its long-standing association with the Dangote Group in large-scale refinery and petrochemical projects.
Once completed, the facility is expected to strengthen fuel production in East Africa, reduce dependence on petroleum imports and contribute to regional energy security. The project is also expected to support the supply of petroleum products to international markets.

Kenya Project to Support Regional Energy Security
The proposed refinery and petrochemical plant is expected to strengthen domestic and regional petroleum supply capabilities.
The project is expected to contribute to:
- Increased fuel production capacity in East Africa
- Reduced dependence on imported petroleum products
- Improved regional energy security
- Development of refinery and petrochemical infrastructure
- Potential supply of petroleum products to international markets
The large-scale project also represents an expansion of the Dangote Group’s presence in the African energy sector, with EIL once again providing consultancy support based on its experience in complex refinery developments.
EIL and Dangote Group Have Existing Refinery Partnership
EIL has previously worked with the Dangote Group on the 650,000 BPD Integrated Refinery and Petrochemical Complex at the Lekki Free Zone in Nigeria.
The Lekki project is currently described as the world’s largest single-train refinery.
EIL has also been associated with the planned expansion of the Nigerian complex to 1.4 million barrels per day.
Building on this experience, the Dangote Group has engaged EIL again for the upcoming Kenya project as part of its expansion into East Africa.
The latest contract therefore builds on an established relationship between the two organisations and EIL’s experience in managing large and technically complex refinery and petrochemical projects.
Major International Assignment for Engineers India
The Kenya contract further expands EIL’s international project portfolio and reinforces its position as an engineering consultancy organisation serving the global energy industry.
The company said the contract reflects the confidence placed in EIL’s capabilities to deliver projects involving significant scale and complexity.
The assignment will require EIL to provide project management and EPCM expertise throughout the development of the greenfield facility.
Financial Performance Shows Strong Revenue Growth
The financial information provided alongside the contract highlights EIL’s recent revenue and profitability performance.
EIL’s revenue increased from ₹3,247.80 crore in FY2025 to ₹4,123.20 crore in FY2026, representing a year-on-year growth of around 27 percent.
The company has also maintained positive net profit and double-digit operating margins across the reported quarters.
- Q1 FY27: Revenue of ₹900.50 crore, net profit of ₹157.90 crore, with 15.42% OPM
- Q4 FY26: Revenue of ₹1,027.60 crore, net profit of ₹195.50 crore, with 16.39% OPM
- Q3 FY26: Revenue of ₹1,311.00 crore, net profit of ₹347.20 crore, with 29.10% OPM
The financial performance indicates continued revenue generation from EIL’s existing project portfolio, although the timing of revenue recognition from the newly signed Kenya contract will depend on project execution and contractual milestones.
Strong Liquidity Supports Project Execution
EIL’s balance sheet and cash-flow position also provide a financial base for executing its project portfolio.
According to the financial information provided, the company reported a current ratio of 1.30x, while its Total Liabilities-to-Equity ratio stood at 0.87x.
The company also reported positive operating cash flow of ₹319 crore in FY2026.
These indicators point to continued operating cash generation and liquidity available to support project execution.
Kenya Contract Adds to EIL’s International Growth
The latest Dangote contract adds a major international project to EIL’s portfolio at a time when the company is expanding its presence across large energy and infrastructure assignments.
The company’s earlier involvement in the Dangote refinery project in Nigeria provides an established track record with the group. The Kenya project will build on that relationship while giving EIL another opportunity to deploy its refinery, petrochemical and project-management expertise in the African market.
