Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday flagged off nine mobile medical units from his private residence at Nagla Tarai, Khatima, to provide better healthcare services to urban and rural communities across the state.

The mobile units have been launched in collaboration with Hans Foundation Dehradun, Hindustan Zinc, and Mamta Organization as part of a joint initiative to strengthen primary health facilities at the grassroots level.

Expanding Access to Healthcare in Remote Areas

Of the nine mobile health service vehicles, eight have been provided by Hans Foundation and one jointly by Hindustan Zinc and Mamta Organization. These mobile medical units will play a key role in reaching underserved populations, particularly in rural and remote regions.

“These mobile medical services will prove extremely beneficial for both urban and rural areas. More people will now have access to healthcare at their doorstep,” CM Dhami said while flagging off the vehicles.

Mobile Units to Operate in Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital Districts

Hans Foundation Project Manager Yudhveer Singh informed that the eight mobile units provided by the foundation will operate in Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts—with four units in each district.

Hindustan Zinc Director Anamika Jha explained that the initiative is also being extended to 25 villages in Gadarpur and Kichha regions of Udham Singh Nagar. Additionally, similar mobile medical services are already operational in four districts of Rajasthan, ensuring healthcare access in multiple states.

Comprehensive Medical Services On Wheels

Each mobile medical unit is equipped with a doctor, staff nurse, and counselor. The vehicles are designed to provide consultation, basic diagnostic services, and treatment, ensuring that people in rural and hard-to-reach areas receive timely and quality healthcare.

This initiative is expected to significantly reduce travel time for patients, improve early disease detection, and promote preventive healthcare measures in areas with limited medical infrastructure.

Government and NGO Partnership for Better Health

CM Dhami appreciated the role of Hans Foundation, Hindustan Zinc, and Mamta Organization in supporting the state’s healthcare initiatives. He emphasized that public-private partnerships play a crucial role in expanding the reach of health services, particularly in hilly and rural regions of Uttarakhand.

“These collaborative efforts will strengthen our healthcare network and ensure that essential medical services reach the last mile,” he added.

Dignitaries Present at the Event

The flag-off ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including:

  • Ajay Maurya, District Panchayat President
  • Ramesh Chandra Joshi, Municipal Council President
  • Nitin Singh Bhadauria, District Magistrate
  • Manikant Mishra, Senior Superintendent of Police
  • Representatives from Hans Foundation, Hindustan Zinc, Mamta Organization, and local officials.
