Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has granted in-principle approval to nearly 80% of the new schemes announced in the state budget, aiming to accelerate implementation and ensure timely benefits for citizens across the state.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar, where progress on budget execution and pending proposals was reviewed.
Cabinet Meeting Focuses on Fast-Track Implementation
According to state government spokesperson and minister Jitu Vaghani, the Chief Minister has directed all departments to speed up execution of approved schemes.
Key directions include:
- Fast-track implementation of newly announced budget schemes
- Clear pending proposals delayed due to election code of conduct
- Ensure timely administrative approvals for all welfare initiatives
The government emphasized that citizens should start receiving benefits from newly announced schemes without unnecessary delays.
80% Budget Schemes Receive In-Principle Approval
Officials confirmed that more than 80% of schemes announced in the Gujarat Budget 2026–27 have already received in-principle approval.
The state budget, presented earlier this year with an outlay of ₹4.08 lakh crore, focuses on:
- Infrastructure development
- Education and student welfare
- Healthcare expansion
- Tourism promotion
- Preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad
Focus on Student Welfare and Scholarships
The cabinet also reviewed student scholarship assistance ahead of the new academic session.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel directed officials to ensure:
- No eligible student is left out of scholarship schemes
- Continuous monitoring of scholarship distribution
- Smooth rollout of benefits after schools and colleges reopen
The government reiterated its commitment to strengthening education support systems across Gujarat.
