Gujarat Govt Assigns Additional Charges to IAS Officers Following Transfer of Alok Kumar Pandey

Rajesh Manjhu Given Charge of Relief Commissioner and GSDMA CEO; Yogesh Nirgude Gets Additional Responsibility in Youth Services and Cultural Activities

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Government has assigned additional responsibilities to two senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers following the transfer of Alok Kumar Pandey, according to an official notification issued in the name of the Governor of Gujarat.

The administrative reshuffle aims to ensure continuity in key departments and institutions until regular arrangements are made.

Rajesh Manjhu Gets Additional Charge of Relief Commissioner and GSDMA CEO

As per the notification, Rajesh Manjhu (IAS: 2004) has been entrusted with additional responsibilities alongside his existing assignments.

Currently serving as Revenue Inspection Commissioner and Ex-officio Secretary to the Government in the Revenue Department, Manjhu has now been given additional charge as:

  • Commissioner of Relief
  • Ex-officio Secretary to the Government, Revenue Department
  • Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA)

The appointments will remain effective until further orders from the state government.

With this arrangement, the additional responsibilities earlier held by Alok Kumar Pandey stand withdrawn.

Key Role in Disaster Management and Relief Administration

The additional charge of CEO, Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority, places Rajesh Manjhu at the helm of one of Gujarat’s most important disaster management institutions.

GSDMA plays a crucial role in:

  • Disaster preparedness and mitigation
  • Emergency response planning
  • Rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts
  • Climate resilience initiatives
  • Coordination with state and district authorities during natural disasters

As Commissioner of Relief, Manjhu will also oversee matters related to disaster relief, rehabilitation measures and emergency assistance across the state.

Yogesh Nirgude Assigned Additional Charge

In a separate order, Yogesh Nirgude (IAS: 2013) has been entrusted with an additional responsibility.

Currently serving as Additional Development Commissioner, Gandhinagar, Nirgude has been given additional charge as:

Commissioner, Youth Services and Cultural Activities

He will assume the responsibility that was previously being handled by Alok Kumar Pandey.

The appointment will remain in force until further orders.

Continuity in Administrative Functions

The latest assignments are part of the state’s efforts to ensure uninterrupted functioning of key departments following the transfer of senior officers.

By allocating additional responsibilities to experienced IAS officers, the Gujarat Government has sought to maintain administrative continuity in areas related to:

  • Revenue administration
  • Disaster management
  • Relief operations
  • Youth development programmes
  • Cultural affairs

Officials indicated that the arrangement would continue until the government issues fresh orders regarding regular appointments.

About the Officers

Rajesh Manjhu (IAS: 2004)

Rajesh Manjhu currently serves as Revenue Inspection Commissioner and Ex-officio Secretary in the Revenue Department. With extensive administrative experience, he will now additionally oversee disaster management and relief administration in the state.

Yogesh Nirgude (IAS: 2013)

Yogesh Nirgude is serving as Additional Development Commissioner, Gandhinagar. He will now also supervise the Youth Services and Cultural Activities Department as Commissioner.
