The Gujarat government has announced a fresh reshuffle of senior IAS officers, bringing changes to key positions in Surat, the Revenue Department, Urban Development, welfare administration and district governance.
The General Administration Department issued the transfer and additional-charge orders from Gandhinagar, moving several officers into new roles and redistributing important administrative responsibilities.
Rajkumar Beniwal Moves to Surat Municipal Corporation
Rajkumar Beniwal (RR:GJ:2004), a 2004-batch IAS officer, has been transferred from Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd. (GNVFC), Bharuch, where he was serving as Managing Director.
He has now been appointed Municipal Commissioner of the Surat Municipal Corporation.
Beniwal will take over from Tejas Parmar, who had been holding the Municipal Commissioner’s post as an additional charge.
With the appointment, Beniwal moves from heading a major state-run enterprise to one of Gujarat’s most important urban administrative positions.
The government has also made arrangements for the vacant post at GNVFC. Sanjeev Kumar (RR:GJ:1998), Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, has been given additional charge as Managing Director of the company until further orders.
Revenue Department Sees Change in Key Responsibilities
The reshuffle also brings a change in the handling of important Revenue Department assignments.
Rajesh Manjhu (RR:GJ:2004), who was serving as Revenue Inspection Commissioner and Ex-officio Secretary to the Revenue Department, was also holding additional responsibility as Superintendent of Stamps and Inspector General of Registration.
Under the latest orders, Manjhu will now exclusively handle the responsibilities of Superintendent of Stamps and Inspector General of Registration.
Jenu Devan (RR:GJ:2006), Secretary to the Government in the Finance Department (Expenditure), has been assigned the additional charge of Revenue Inspection Commissioner and Ex-officio Secretary to the Revenue Department.
The changes redistribute responsibilities among senior officers handling the state’s revenue and registration machinery.
Urban Development and Welfare Departments Also See Changes
Remya Mohan Muthadath (RR:GJ:2007), Commissioner of Municipalities Administration, has been given an additional responsibility as Secretary to the Government for Housing & Nirmal Gujarat under the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department.
She will continue to serve as Managing Director of Gujarat Urban Development Company Ltd. and Additional CEO of the Gujarat Urban Development Mission.
In the welfare administration, Rachit Raj (RR:GJ:2014) has been moved from the post of Director of Scheduled Castes Welfare to Director of Tribal Development.
Raj will also continue to hold additional charge of his previous assignment as Director of Scheduled Castes Welfare.
At the district level, Harshil R. Meena (RR:GJ:2021) has been appointed District Development Officer (DDO) of Mehsana. He replaces P. B. Rathod in the post.
The latest reshuffle brings changes across Gujarat’s municipal administration, revenue setup, urban development, welfare departments and district administration, with several officers taking on new responsibilities or additional charges.
