The recognition reflects the village’s outstanding performance across critical child-focused metrics including 100% vaccination, full school and girl child enrolment, and comprehensive Anganwadi coverage.

  • Child-Friendly Village
  • Water-Sufficient Village
  • Clean and Green Village
  • Village with Self-Sufficient Infrastructure
  • Socially Secured Village
  • Village with Good Governance
  • Women-Friendly Village
  • Kanial’s Key Milestones in Child Welfare
  • Kanial’s progress in the child welfare domain has been exceptional:
  • 100% child vaccination coverage
  • Complete enrolment of children in school, including full participation of girl children
  • Regular malnutrition screening of all Anganwadi-enrolled children
  • Near zero levels of child malnutrition
  • Robust early childhood care and educational initiatives
  • Sarpanch Umedsinh Jhala: “A Moment of Pride”

Speaking about the award, Sarpanch Mr. Umedsinh Jhala credited the achievement to collective, cross-departmental coordination. “This recognition belongs to the whole village. The role of our Kumar Shala, Kanya Shala, Anganwadi workers, health and ASHA workers, and the Panchayat team was critical,” he said. “It reflects our shared commitment to giving every child a strong start in life.”

Kanial Primary School: Fostering Holistic, Inclusive Education

At the core of Kanial’s educational progress is its Primary School, which follows a Child-Friendly Framework. The school emphasizes:

  • School safety and inclusive learning
  • Extracurricular development
  • Rights-based educational approaches
  • Community involvement and parental engagement
  • Monitoring of school dropout rates
  • Participation in competitive exams to build student confidence and ambition
  • Early Childhood Support at Anganwadi Centres
  • Kanial’s three Anganwadi Centres have emerged as cornerstones of early development by offering:
  • Pre-primary education and growth monitoring
  • CMAM-based health initiatives to combat malnutrition
  • Regular celebration of events like ‘Mangal Divas’ and ‘Mamata Divas’
  • Family Resource Support (FRS) activities for community awareness
  • Regular height and weight checks to track development

These centres not only address health and nutrition but also instill values of learning and social bonding at an early age.

Setting a Benchmark for Other Villages

Kanial’s achievement sets a benchmark for rural child-centric development in Gujarat. By integrating education, health, nutrition, and governance into a unified village-level framework, the village offers a replicable model for other panchayats aiming to uplift child welfare standards.
