Gandhinagar: More than 500 young volunteers from Gujarat are taking part in a 22-day ‘Seva Yatra’ from Vadnagar to Varanasi, travelling across 10 routes and carrying out community service activities in villages along the way.
The bike rally reached Panchmahal on September 19, where Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi joined the Seva Yatris and received a traditional welcome at Chandrapura Chokdi in Halol. The programme featured tribal folk dances and a performance based on the theme of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
The yatra is part of the wider Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which is being held around Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service. The motorcycle yatras between Vadnagar and Varanasi began on September 17 and are scheduled to conclude on October 7.
500+ Youth to Take Service Activities to Villages
According to the programme details, more than 500 Seva Yatri youth from Gujarat will travel through villages on 10 different routes during the 22-day journey.
Rather than limiting the yatra to a symbolic motorcycle ride, the participants are expected to undertake community-focused activities at different locations.
These include cleanliness drives, cow protection, care for elderly people and awareness activities related to government welfare schemes.
The focus is on taking service activities closer to communities and encouraging local participation in initiatives related to cleanliness, healthcare and public welfare.
The broader Seva Sankalp campaign has also encouraged citizens to participate in activities such as cleanliness drives, tree plantation, blood and organ donation and assistance to needy families.

Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi Joins the Yatra
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi arrived in Panchmahal along with the Seva Yatris and participated in the bike journey.
At Chandrapura Chokdi in Halol, local residents and organisers welcomed the participants through traditional tribal folk performances and a presentation centred on ‘Viksit Bharat’.
Sanghavi said he was pleased to have been associated with the bike yatra over the preceding two days. He also urged citizens to participate in service activities during the Seva Sankalp month.
He called upon people to dedicate 25 minutes to cleanliness, healthcare or public service activities for their village, society or country.
From Vadnagar to Varanasi
The route connects Vadnagar in Gujarat, associated with Prime Minister Modi’s early life, with Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, where he has represented the constituency in Parliament.
The twin motorcycle journeys are designed to connect the two locations while taking the message of community service through villages along the routes. Reports on the wider campaign say the motorcycle yatras involve around 500 motorcycles and cover multiple states, districts and villages.
The programme therefore combines travel with local outreach, with volunteers expected to interact with communities and participate in service activities during the journey.
Government Schemes and Public Awareness
During his address, Sanghavi referred to several central government initiatives, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, sanitation facilities, Kisan Samman Nidhi and Ayushman Bharat, while highlighting their intended role in supporting different sections of society.
The awareness component of the yatra is aimed at helping communities understand government schemes and encouraging people to participate in local welfare activities.
This outreach approach is particularly relevant in rural areas, where direct community engagement can help connect residents with information about public programmes and available services.
Panchmahal Welcomes the Seva Yatris
The Panchmahal programme was attended by District In-charge Minister Ramesh Katara, District Panchayat President Neeraj Patel, district leader Mayank Desai and Halol MLA Jaydrathsinh Parmar.
Representatives and office-bearers associated with GIDC Maswad and GIDC Halol, organisational representatives and a large number of local residents were also present during the welcome programme.
The participation of local representatives and residents added a community dimension to the yatra as it passed through Panchmahal.
Turning a Bike Journey Into Community Service
The Vadnagar-Varanasi Seva Yatra is combining a long-distance motorcycle journey with village-level service activities. For the participating youth, the programme provides an opportunity to engage directly with communities while promoting cleanliness, welfare awareness and other public-service initiatives.
As the journey continues across its planned routes, the emphasis will remain on taking these activities into villages rather than keeping the programme limited to major towns and rally points.
The initiative reflects a broader effort to use youth participation and community engagement to strengthen awareness and participation in public-service activities.
