New Delhi: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has received an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) rating of ‘Inadequate’ with an overall score of 39 from ESG Risk Assessments & Insights Limited as of September 9, 2026.
The rating covers HPCL’s performance across environmental, social and governance parameters in the Petroleum Products sector.

As per the disclosure made by HPCL to the stock exchanges, the company received the following ESG scores:

- Social Score: 45.33

Environmental Score Stands at 27.78
HPCL received an Environmental score of 27.78, which is the lowest among the three ESG parameters assessed by the rating agency.
The environmental component forms part of the overall ESG assessment of the company within the petroleum products sector.
Social and Governance Scores
HPCL recorded a Social score of 45.33 and a Governance score of 49.37.
The governance score was the highest among the three individual parameters, followed by the social score.
Together with the environmental assessment, these parameters resulted in HPCL’s overall ESG score of 39 and an ‘Inadequate’ rating category.
ESG Rating Independently Prepared by Agency
HPCL clarified that the ESG rating was independently prepared by ESG Risk Assessments & Insights Limited.
The company also stated that it had not engaged the agency for carrying out the ESG rating.
The disclosure has been made by HPCL under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
