Siliguri: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has strengthened India’s clean energy push by expanding its Piped Natural Gas (PNG) infrastructure in Siliguri, marking a major step toward sustainable urban energy development.

The initiative includes supplying PNG to Uttorayon Society, the largest residential complex in the city, covering around 2,700 households.

Major Milestone in City Gas Distribution Network

The expansion was formally highlighted in the presence of Jayanta Narayan Das, Member (Technical) of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), reflecting strong regulatory support for city gas infrastructure growth.

HPCL said the development is part of its broader strategy to expand clean fuel access in rapidly growing urban centres.

PNG Supply to Homes, Hospitals and Commercial Hubs

Under the expanded network, PNG will not only be supplied to residential colonies but also to key commercial and institutional establishments in Siliguri, including:

  • Shopping complexes
  • Hotels and hospitality units
  • Healthcare and medical facilities

This expansion is expected to significantly improve energy accessibility across the city.

Cleaner, Safer and More Sustainable Energy Solution

The PNG rollout in Siliguri is aimed at replacing conventional fuels with a cleaner alternative. Key benefits include:
