Siliguri: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has strengthened India’s clean energy push by expanding its Piped Natural Gas (PNG) infrastructure in Siliguri, marking a major step toward sustainable urban energy development.

The initiative includes supplying PNG to Uttorayon Society, the largest residential complex in the city, covering around 2,700 households.

Major Milestone in City Gas Distribution Network

The expansion was formally highlighted in the presence of Jayanta Narayan Das, Member (Technical) of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), reflecting strong regulatory support for city gas infrastructure growth.

This expansion is expected to significantly improve energy accessibility across the city.

Cleaner, Safer and More Sustainable Energy Solution

The PNG rollout in Siliguri is aimed at replacing conventional fuels with a cleaner alternative. Key benefits include:

  • Reduced carbon emissions
  • Safer and uninterrupted energy supply
  • Lower dependence on fossil fuel-based cooking energy

Strengthening India’s Clean Energy Transition

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited stated that the project aligns with India’s long-term vision of building a low-carbon and energy-efficient ecosystem.

The company continues to expand its city gas distribution network across multiple regions to meet rising demand for environmentally friendly fuel solutions.

Boost to Urban Energy Infrastructure
