Indian Masterminds Stories

New Delhi/Bareilly: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited has signed a Piped Natural Gas (PNG) Sales Agreement with Invertis University in Bareilly, marking a significant step toward expanding clean energy access in educational institutions.

The agreement was formalised in the presence of Bareilly Mayor Umesh Gautam.

Cleaner and Safer Energy for Campus Community

Under the agreement, HPCL will supply PNG to the university campus, primarily benefiting canteens and residential facilities. More than 1,500 hostel students and campus residents are expected to gain from this initiative.

PNG is widely regarded as a safer and more efficient alternative to conventional fuels like LPG, offering consistent supply, reduced emissions, and improved safety standards for daily use.

Boost to Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Infrastructure

The shift to PNG is expected to significantly reduce the campus’s carbon footprint while ensuring uninterrupted energy supply for cooking and other needs.

Officials noted that adopting cleaner fuel solutions not only enhances operational efficiency but also contributes to a healthier environment for students and staff.

Aligning with India’s Clean Energy Mission

The partnership aligns with the broader vision of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board to expand the city gas distribution network across India.

By extending PNG infrastructure to institutions like universities, the initiative supports the country’s long-term goal of increasing the share of cleaner fuels in the energy mix.

Promoting Green Campuses Across India

HPCL’s collaboration with Invertis University reflects a growing trend of integrating sustainable energy solutions into educational campuses. Such initiatives not only reduce environmental impact but also create awareness among students about responsible energy consumption.

The move is expected to serve as a model for other institutions looking to transition toward cleaner and safer energy alternatives.

Strengthening Quality of Life for Students

With reliable PNG supply, students and campus residents will benefit from uninterrupted cooking fuel, improved safety, and better hygiene standards in food preparation areas.

This initiative is also expected to streamline campus operations and reduce dependency on traditional fuel supply chains.
