Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare, announcing key decisions on wheat procurement, agriculture support, and dairy sector expansion. Addressing farmers and reviewing ongoing schemes, the Chief Minister said that the state is continuously working to strengthen the rural economy.
Government Working with “True Commitment” for Farmers
In a message shared on social media on April 24, the Chief Minister emphasized that his government’s motto is “true promise, firm action.” He stated that farmers remain at the core of Madhya Pradesh’s development agenda and no progress is possible without their contribution.
He said the government is prioritizing farmer welfare at every level and ensuring that agricultural growth translates into better income and stability for cultivators.
Wheat Procurement Target Increased to 100 Lakh Metric Tonnes
Highlighting a major decision, Mohan Yadav said that due to record wheat production this year, the procurement target has been increased from 78 lakh metric tonnes to 100 lakh metric tonnes.
This increase of 22 lakh metric tonnes is aimed at:
- Supporting farmers’ income stability
- Ensuring higher procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP)
- Recognizing farmers’ hard work and productivity
He also thanked the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting the decision.
Wheat Procurement Slot Booking Extended
To ensure smooth procurement, the Chief Minister announced several relaxations:
- Slot booking for wheat sale is now fully open
- Procurement will be conducted six days a week
- Saturday holidays have been removed for procurement centres
- Last date for slot booking extended from April 30 to May 9
He added that further extension will be considered if required, ensuring that no farmer faces inconvenience.
Focus on Dairy Sector to Double Farmers’ Income
A major part of the government’s rural strategy is strengthening the dairy sector. The Chief Minister said dairy activities are playing a key role in increasing farmers’ income.
He noted that:
- Milk procurement and pricing have improved
- Women participation in dairy cooperatives is being promoted
- 26,000 villages will be integrated under dairy development plans
- Daily milk collection target set at 52 lakh kg
The government is also modernizing dairy processing units, improving branding, and expanding digital systems for transparency.
Major Reforms in Dairy Cooperative System
During a high-level meeting on dairy development, the government reviewed progress under the National Dairy Development Board partnership.
Key achievements include:
- Formation of 1,752 new dairy cooperatives in 2025–26
- Revival of 701 inactive cooperatives
- Daily milk collection of 9.67 lakh kg
- Installation of 153 new bulk milk coolers
- Launch of mobile apps for milk tracking and pricing
Officials said these reforms are improving efficiency, transparency, and farmer participation.
Strengthening Rural Economy Through Innovation
Mohan Yadav directed officials to promote innovation in dairy production, modern packaging, and processing infrastructure. He also emphasized:
- Training farmers and youth in dairy technology
- Organizing district-level exhibitions and awards
- Encouraging high-quality livestock breeding practices
He said these steps will help modernize the rural economy and create new employment opportunities.

The announcements reflect Madhya Pradesh’s continued focus on agriculture-led development. With expanded wheat procurement and large-scale dairy reforms, the state aims to strengthen rural livelihoods and ensure long-term income stability for farmers.
