The union government has recently mandated senior IAS officer, Mr. Rabindra Kumar Agarwal, to assume the charge of Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies in the Union Ministry of Cooperation. Officer Agarwal is a 1997 batch IAS officer from Kerala cadre, who will replace Mr. Anand Kumar Jha (an Indian Forest Service officer).
Mr. Agarwal joined the Cooperation Ministry in the first week of August as an Additional Secretary. The post of Central Registrar is pivotal to the growth of multi-state co-op societies in the country.
Mr. Agarwal holds a graduate degree in Mathematics and Post Graduate Degree in Operations Research from Delhi University. He started his career as a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in the year 1999 and became an Additional Director in the Tourism Department of Kerala in the year 2001. He was also the Managing Director of Bekal Resorts Development Corporation for some time.
