Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Inaugurates Water ATMs in Shalimar Bagh on Ambedkar Jayanti to Boost Clean Water Access

New Delhi: On the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated multiple Water ATM facilities in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency, aiming to ensure clean and accessible drinking water for residents.

The initiative was launched at GP Block and Beriwala Bagh Block, marking a significant step toward improving basic civic amenities in the capital.

Tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on His Birth Anniversary

Paying homage to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Chief Minister said that the Constitution drafted by him guarantees every citizen the right to basic facilities. She added that the Water ATM project reflects the government’s commitment to fulfilling Ambedkar’s vision of equality and social justice.

CM Rekha Gupta also offered floral tributes at the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial and described his life and ideology as a guiding force for governance.

7 Water ATMs Installed Across Ward 55, 56 and 57

Under the new project, 7 Water ATMs have been installed across wards 55, 56, and 57 in Shalimar Bagh. These units are designed to provide round-the-clock access to purified drinking water.

Key features include:

  • 2,000 litres of water supply per hour per unit
  • 5-stage RO purification system
  • Water purification up to 3000 TDS level
  • 24×7 monitoring system for safety and transparency
  • Smart card-based system providing 20 litres of water per person per day

Clean Drinking Water for Every Household

The Chief Minister stated that the initiative will ensure safe drinking water reaches every household with dignity and convenience. She emphasized that improving basic infrastructure is a top priority of the government, especially in densely populated urban areas.

Focus on Social Justice and Inclusive Development

Reiterating the government’s commitment to Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals, CM Rekha Gupta said that her administration is working to uplift marginalized communities, including Dalits, backward classes, and economically weaker sections.

She highlighted efforts in:

  • Expanding access to modern education
  • Strengthening welfare schemes
  • Promoting economic and social empowerment
  • Ensuring equal opportunities for all citizens

Shalimar Bagh Development Vision

The Chief Minister added that the Shalimar Bagh constituency is being developed as an “ideal assembly model”, where citizens receive both modern facilities and improved quality of life.

She assured that work on civic infrastructure and public services will continue to expand across Delhi in the coming phases.

The inauguration of Water ATMs in Shalimar Bagh on Ambedkar Jayanti reflects a blend of social commitment and infrastructure development, aimed at improving urban living standards while honoring the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
