The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) organised the “CMA Achievers’ Meet: Vision 2030” at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, with Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, as the Chief Guest. The event also featured Dr. Jayanta Kumar Roy, Member of Parliament, and Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director of IREDA, who participated as a Special Guest to share insights on ICMAI’s role in shaping India’s economic landscape.
Shaping ICMAI’s Role for the Future
During his keynote address, Pradip Kumar Das highlighted the importance of ICMAI evolving into a key talent hub for India, catering to the needs of CEOs and CFOs. He stressed the need for modernisation of the institute’s curriculum to keep pace with global trends, incorporating topics like artificial intelligence, digital costing, ESG (environmental, social, and governance), export accounting, and global fundraising.
“Aligning education with international standards and embracing emerging areas will equip professionals to meet the demands of a rapidly changing industry,” Das remarked. He also suggested collaborations with executive coaches to enhance interpersonal skills among CMA professionals.
On the demand side, Das proposed forging stronger alliances with corporate stakeholders to develop industry-relevant certifications and programs. He emphasised leveraging AI and advanced analytics to enable CMAs to deliver innovative solutions in cost management, essential for fostering India’s sustainable growth trajectory.
Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development
Das also underlined the significance of renewable energy, environmental sustainability, and energy security in achieving India’s development goals by 2047, aligning with the government’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat.”
“A greener economy that addresses climate change and resource conservation is vital for sustainable progress,” Das stated. “By taking a holistic approach, we can not only meet the nation’s energy requirements but also pave the way for a prosperous and developed India by 2047.”
The event provided a platform to discuss strategies for ICMAI to enhance its contribution to India’s economic and sustainable development goals, setting a roadmap for the future.
