Ranchi: The Jharkhand state government has carried out a significant reshuffle in the police department with the transfer of seven Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. The move comes as part of a broader strategy to optimize the management and functioning of various law enforcement sectors in the state.

In the most prominent change, 1990 batch senior IPS officer Anil Palta, the current Director General (DG) of Home Guard Corps cum Fire Services, has been transferred and appointed as the new DG of Rail. This shift marks a notable change in the leadership of the state’s railways security sector.

Simultaneously, 1993-batch IPS officer MS Bhatia has been appointed as the new DG of Home Guard Corps cum Fire Services. Bhatia, who was awaiting posting after returning from central deputation, takes over this key responsibility, ensuring the continued effectiveness of the Home Guard and Fire Services.

In other key appointments:

  • 2005 batch IPS officer Pankaj Kamboj, the current IG Provision, has been promoted to the role of Managing Director of Jharkhand Police Housing Corporation Limited.
  • Shubham Kumar Khandelwal, a 2021-batch IPS officer, has been assigned the role of SDPO Simaria, while his batchmate, Gaurav Goswami, will serve as SDPO Patratu.
  • Vedant Shankar, also from the 2022 batch, has been posted as SDPO Kisko Lohardaga, and Shivam Prakash, from the same batch, has been assigned the role of SDPO Chakradharpur.

The Home Prison and Disaster Management Department issued a formal notification about the transfers late on Tuesday evening, outlining the new postings. The notification also stated that those officers who have been transferred but have not yet been posted elsewhere will contribute to the Police Headquarters until further orders.

These changes are expected to streamline operations within the state’s police force and enhance coordination across various sectors, including rail and housing.
