The Election Commission of India on April 24th mandated Mr. Kumar Vishwajeet (1994 batch IPS) to assume office as the new director general of police (intelligence) of Andhra Pradesh. Officer Vishwajeet, who was posted as ACB General, replaces Mr. P S R Anjaneyulu (1992 batch IPS officer) as the DGP (intelligence). The ECI further appointed Mr. P H D Ramakrishna (2006 batch IPS) as the new police commissioner of Vijayawada, replacing IPS Kanthi Rana Tata (2004 batch IPS).
IPS Anjaneyulu and Tata were both sacked by the ECI on April 23rd, following the intelligence failure in preventing the stone pelting on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on April 13th and the inability of the Vijayawada police commissioner to ensure adequate security to the chief minister.
