Tokyo, Japan: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) organised a Tourism Roadshow at the Embassy of India in Tokyo, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, to promote India’s diverse tourism offerings and IRCTC’s prestigious tourist trains in the Japanese market.
The event brought together leading Japanese tour operators and media representatives and provided a platform to showcase unique travel experiences offered by India’s luxury and heritage rail tourism products.
IRCTC Showcases Tourist Trains in Japan
The roadshow focused on promoting some of IRCTC’s key rail tourism products, including:
- Maharajas’ Express
- Golden Chariot
- Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train
- Other tourism products offered by IRCTC
Presentations by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and IRCTC highlighted India’s diverse destinations, cultural heritage and tourism experiences.
The presentations also focused on the distinctive travel experiences offered through IRCTC’s tourist trains, giving Japanese travel industry representatives a closer look at India’s rail-based tourism offerings.

Indian Ambassador to Japan Welcomes Participants
H.E. Ms. Nagma Mohamed Mallick, Ambassador of India to Japan, welcomed the dignitaries and participants at the event.
She delivered the welcome remarks before the presentations by the Ministry of Tourism and IRCTC.
The participation of the Indian Embassy provided an important platform for engaging with stakeholders from Japan’s travel trade and media industry and promoting India as a tourism destination.
FAM Trips Awarded Through Raffle Draw
An important highlight of the roadshow was a raffle draw organised by IRCTC for participating representatives.
Selected participants were awarded Familiarisation (FAM) trips aboard IRCTC’s prominent tourist trains:
- Maharajas’ Express
- Golden Chariot
- Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train
The FAM trips will provide selected Japanese travel industry participants with an opportunity to experience these rail journeys first-hand.
The initiative is aimed at helping participants gain direct knowledge of the train journeys and tourism experiences so that they can present and promote these products more confidently in the Japanese market.
Roadshow Strengthens India-Japan Tourism Engagement
The Tokyo roadshow provided a platform for IRCTC and the Ministry of Tourism to strengthen engagement with Japanese travel trade and media representatives.

The Tokyo event allowed Japanese travel industry stakeholders to understand these offerings directly and explore opportunities to promote them among travellers in Japan.
