Ranchi: A 90-day action plan has been prepared for the development and CBSE affiliation of 100 newly selected CM Schools of Excellence (CM-SOE) in Ranchi. The schools are expected to begin academic sessions from the next session.
A state-level orientation programme for the principals and headmasters of the newly selected schools was organised by the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) at the auditorium in Dhurwa, Ranchi.
The programme focused on implementing the vision and mission of the Adarsh Vidyalaya Yojana, the process of affiliating the schools with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), improving academic and physical facilities, and learning from the experiences of existing CM Schools of Excellence.
90-Day Action Plan for CBSE Affiliation
JEPC experts presented a detailed action plan covering the operation and development of the new CM Schools of Excellence.
Dr Manohar Lal, Programme Specialist, PMU, explained the standards, documents and academic requirements necessary for CBSE affiliation.
A three-month action plan has been prepared to complete the required preparations in a phased manner.
The principals were asked to work according to the prescribed timelines to ensure that the schools are prepared for the CBSE affiliation process.

Schools to Focus on Student-Centric Learning
JEPC State Project Director (SPD) Shashi Ranjan explained the strategy for developing government schools into quality educational institutions.
He emphasised that the heads of the 100 new schools should:
- Take leadership responsibility for school development.
- Adopt student-centric teaching methods.
- Focus on improving the overall learning environment.
- Complete preparations for CBSE affiliation within the prescribed timeline.
- Work towards implementing the vision and mission of the Adarsh Vidyalaya Yojana.
Infrastructure Upgradation Planned for CM Schools
The orientation programme also covered the physical infrastructure requirements of the new schools.
Civil Works Manager Kiran Sinha explained plans for:
- Modernisation of classrooms.
- Improving safety standards.
- Construction and improvement of boundary walls.
- Other structural improvements required under CM School of Excellence standards.
The focus will be on developing infrastructure according to the prescribed standards for CM Schools of Excellence.
Smart Classes and ICT Facilities to Get Priority
Technology-based education was another key focus area of the programme.
ACP Sanjeev Kumar Gupta explained the strategy for effective use of digital resources in schools. The plan includes strengthening:
- Smart classrooms
- ICT labs
- Digital learning content
- Technology-based teaching methods
The objective is to make digital resources an effective part of classroom teaching and learning.
Vocational Education and Specialised Labs Planned
The new CM Schools of Excellence will also focus on vocational education and skill-based learning.
Vocational Education Nodal Officer Amit Kumar explained the plan to establish specialised vocational laboratories and introduce employment-oriented skill courses.
The initiative aims to provide students with skill-based education along with regular academic learning, helping broaden their learning opportunities.
Existing CM Schools Share Their Experiences
Principals and headmasters of already operational CM Schools of Excellence shared their experiences with the heads of the newly selected schools.
They discussed challenges faced during school development, community participation and institutional changes.
The experiences were shared by:
- Munna Prasad Kushwaha, Principal, JC Bose CM School of Excellence, Giridih
- Ranjita Gandhi, Principal, BPM CM School of Excellence, Barmamines, Jamshedpur
- Tripti Bharti, Principal, District CM School of Excellence, Latehar
Their experiences were intended to help the new school heads understand practical challenges and approaches to school development.
Principals Raise Questions on CBSE Affiliation and School Management
A dedicated interaction session was held with the principals and headmasters of the 100 new CM Schools of Excellence.
The participants raised questions related to:
- CBSE affiliation
- Administrative management
- Infrastructure development
- Timelines for completing various works
- Challenges that may arise during implementation
The officials and experts addressed the queries and provided guidance on the way forward.
JEPC Calls for Focus on Quality Education
The programme concluded with an address by JEPC Deputy Director and CM School of Excellence Nodal Officer Ashish Kumar Pandey, who also delivered the vote of thanks.
He said that providing quality education under the Adarsh Vidyalaya Yojana remains the main objective. He called upon all principals and headmasters to take responsibility for improving their respective schools and implementing the planned initiatives effectively.
With the 90-day action plan covering CBSE affiliation, infrastructure, digital learning, vocational education and school management, the newly selected CM Schools of Excellence are set to undergo a structured development process before classes begin in the next academic session.
