Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren chaired a high-level review meeting of the Energy Department on Wednesday and directed officials to expedite the resolution of issues affecting the state’s power infrastructure. The meeting focused on ensuring uninterrupted and quality electricity supply by addressing challenges related to power grids, transmission lines and other critical infrastructure.
The Chief Minister instructed district administrations and senior officials to resolve pending electricity-related issues within a fixed timeline to strengthen the state’s power transmission network and improve electricity supply.
CM Hemant Soren Reviews Power Infrastructure Projects
During the review meeting held at Project Bhawan in Ranchi, the Chief Minister assessed the progress of key power infrastructure projects and discussed hurdles affecting grid expansion and transmission line development.
The meeting focused on:
- Expansion of power grids.
- Transmission line projects.
- Technical issues affecting electricity infrastructure.
- Delays in project implementation.
- Measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
Hemant Soren stressed that strengthening the transmission network is essential for delivering reliable electricity to consumers across Jharkhand.

Officials Directed to Resolve Grid and Transmission Issues Quickly
The Chief Minister directed the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and the Deputy Commissioners of Hazaribagh, Bokaro and Dhanbad to immediately address issues related to power grids and transmission lines.
He instructed officials to:
- Resolve technical issues without delay.
- Remove obstacles affecting transmission projects.
- Coordinate with concerned departments for faster clearances.
- Complete pending work within the prescribed timeline.
The Chief Minister said delays caused by forest clearances or administrative hurdles should be addressed promptly to prevent disruptions in infrastructure development.
District Administrations Asked to Complete Pending Power Projects
Hemant Soren also directed all Deputy Commissioners and district-level officials to ensure that electricity-related projects in their respective districts are completed within the stipulated timeframe.
He emphasised that a strong and efficient transmission network is necessary to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to every household and support the state’s growing infrastructure needs.
The Chief Minister asked officials to closely monitor project implementation and ensure timely completion of pending works.
Focus on Delivering Welfare Schemes Efficiently
During the meeting, senior Energy Department officials briefed the Chief Minister on the implementation of the state’s recently announced electricity welfare initiatives.
Hemant Soren directed officials to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach every eligible consumer in a transparent and timely manner.
He said effective implementation is essential to improve public services and strengthen consumer confidence.
Jharkhand Government Highlights Free Electricity Initiatives
The review meeting also discussed the progress of the state’s recently approved consumer welfare measures.
Key initiatives include:
- Free electricity up to 200 units for approximately 39.44 lakh consumers.
- Waiver of pending electricity bills for eligible consumers.
- Five units of free electricity for individuals who plant a tree as part of the state’s environmental conservation initiative.
The Chief Minister instructed the department to implement these schemes efficiently so that eligible households receive their benefits without unnecessary delays.

The state government is focusing on expanding power infrastructure while improving the quality and reliability of electricity supply across Jharkhand.
