The government of Jharkhand has recently submitted the names of four IPS officers to UPSC for the post of DGP of Jharkhand amid controversy over the appointment of the acting DGP. The state government appointed IPS Anurag Gupta, a 1990-batch IPS officer, as the acting DGP, which was challenged in the court.
The Jharkhand government has included the names of IPS Anil Palta (1990 batch), IPS Anurag Gupta, IPS Prashant Singh (1992 batch) and IPS R K Mallick (1992 batch) in the panel sent to the UPSC that would send back three suitable names to the Jharkhand government after careful consideration on these names.
