New Delhi – The Government of India has approved the appointment of Mr. Subhankar Sen, Executive Director at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), as the new Director (Marketing) of the company. His tenure will extend up to his superannuation on January 31, 2028.
The appointment was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) following the proposal from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. With this approval, Sen officially succeeds Sukhmal Kumar Jain, who retired from the post on April 31, 2025.
Background
Subhankar Sen’s selection comes after a rigorous interview process conducted by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on March 29, 2025, nearly a month ahead of Jain’s scheduled retirement. Sen emerged as the top candidate among several senior executives from major public sector undertakings, showcasing his strong credentials and experience within BPCL.

About Subhankar Sen
Sen is currently serving as Executive Director and has previously led critical verticals including Lubricants and Retail Marketing at BPCL. Under his leadership, the company’s lubricant brand, MAK Lubricants, expanded its national footprint and forged key partnerships with OEMs. He also played a pivotal role in BPCL’s retail operations across western India, managing a vast network of fuel stations and pioneering digital initiatives.
