Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh administration has intensified its crackdown on the illegal and spurious liquor trade, with officials taking action at five locations in Banda, Sagar district.

The operation followed Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav’s directions for strict action against illegal liquor activities and comes under the state government’s stated zero-tolerance approach towards the illegal liquor trade.

According to the administration, bulldozers were used to remove allegedly illegal houses and warehouses linked to people accused in an illegal liquor case. Officials also cleared alleged encroachments on government land during the operation.

Action Follows CM Mohan Yadav’s Directions

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has directed the administration to take strict action against illegal liquor traders and liquor mafias across Madhya Pradesh.

Following these directions, the Sagar district administration carried out the operation in Banda against people allegedly connected with an illegal liquor case.

The administration has maintained that activities related to the illegal liquor trade will not be tolerated and that action will continue against those involved in such activities.

Five Locations Targeted in Banda

The administration reported action at five major locations allegedly associated with the illegal liquor trade.

The operation focused on properties described by officials as unauthorised or illegally constructed. Officials also removed alleged encroachments from government land.

The action involved teams from the administration and concerned departments, which remained present during the demolition drive.

Properties Linked to Three Accused Targeted

According to the administration, the properties targeted during the operation were reportedly linked to Manish Lodhi, Chandrabhan Rajput and Ashish Sahu.

Officials said bulldozers were used against allegedly illegal houses and warehouses associated with the three individuals.

The action was carried out as part of the wider administrative response to the illegal liquor case. The administration’s stated objective was to act against properties allegedly connected with the illegal liquor network.

Illegal Structures and Encroachments Removed

The administration reportedly demolished houses and warehouses that it considered illegally constructed.

Along with the structures, alleged encroachments on government land were also cleared.

Such action is intended to put administrative and financial pressure on networks allegedly involved in illegal activities. In this case, officials linked the operation to the crackdown on the illegal liquor trade in Banda.

The administration has stressed that action against unauthorised construction and government land encroachment will form part of its response wherever such violations are established.

Focus on Spurious Liquor and Public Safety

The government has placed particular emphasis on tackling spurious liquor because of the potential risks it poses to public health and safety.

The administration said illegal liquor activities would face strict action and indicated that enforcement would continue.

The crackdown also sends a warning to people allegedly involved in the manufacture, storage or distribution of illegal liquor that the administration intends to pursue the issue through coordinated enforcement.

Zero-Tolerance Approach in Madhya Pradesh

The Banda operation is part of the Madhya Pradesh government’s broader zero-tolerance stance towards illegal liquor activities.

The administration has said that individuals or groups involved in activities that threaten public health and safety will face action according to law.

For local communities, stronger enforcement against illegal and spurious liquor is significant because the trade can create serious risks beyond law-and-order concerns, particularly when unsafe liquor reaches consumers.

The latest operation therefore combines action against alleged illegal liquor networks with enforcement against unauthorised properties and government land encroachment.

Administration Signals Continued Crackdown

The Banda action has highlighted the administration’s intent to continue targeting alleged illegal liquor networks and related violations.

By taking action at multiple locations in a single operation, officials have sought to reinforce the message that illegal liquor activities will attract strict administrative scrutiny.

The government’s approach also places public health and safety at the centre of its crackdown. Further action is expected in cases where authorities establish links between illegal liquor activities, unauthorised properties and other violations.

The operation in Banda underlines the state’s continued focus on enforcing laws against illegal liquor while protecting public safety and government property.
