Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has carried out a minor bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring three senior IAS officers and assigning them new responsibilities in key departments and public sector organisations. The changes were notified through an order issued by the General Administration Department on June 22.
The reshuffle includes the appointment of senior IAS officer P Velrasu as Additional Metropolitan Commissioner of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), along with new assignments for Sanjeev Kumar and Vikram Kumar.
P Velrasu Moved to MMRDA
P Velrasu, a 2002-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the Additional Metropolitan Commissioner of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
Interestingly, Velrasu’s posting as Secretary (Forest) had already been announced in an order issued on June 16. However, the state government has now revised the assignment and posted him to the MMRDA, one of Maharashtra’s most important urban infrastructure and planning agencies.
The MMRDA plays a crucial role in planning, coordinating and implementing infrastructure projects across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, including transport, housing and urban development initiatives.
Sanjeev Kumar Appointed Food Secretary
Senior IAS officer Sanjeev Kumar, a 2003-batch officer, has been transferred from his existing position as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL).
He has now been appointed as Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department at Mantralaya.
The department is responsible for implementing food security programmes, public distribution systems and consumer welfare initiatives across the state.
Vikram Kumar Takes Charge as MSETCL CMD
Vikram Kumar, a 2004-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL).
Prior to this appointment, he was serving as Additional Metropolitan Commissioner at MMRDA in Mumbai.
His new role places him at the helm of Maharashtra’s key power transmission utility, which is responsible for maintaining and expanding the state’s electricity transmission network.
Administrative Changes Notified by General Administration Department
The transfers were effected through an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) of the Maharashtra government on June 22.
The reshuffle, though limited in scale, involves key positions in urban infrastructure, power transmission and public service delivery sectors. Such administrative changes are aimed at ensuring efficient governance and strengthening institutional leadership across departments.
The latest reshuffle reflects the Maharashtra government’s effort to strategically deploy experienced officers in critical administrative and infrastructure-related positions.
