Mumbai: The Government of Maharashtra has transferred four Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers in a fresh bureaucratic reshuffle, with senior officer Tukaram Mundhe being appointed as Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The latest posting marks Mundhe’s 25th transfer in his 21-year administrative career and his second transfer in less than two months, underscoring the remarkable frequency of his postings over the years.
Tukaram Mundhe Gets 25th Posting in 21-Year Career
A 2005-batch IAS officer, Tukaram Mundhe is widely known for his strict administrative style, anti-corruption stance, and uncompromising adherence to rules. Often referred to as the “Singham” of Maharashtra’s bureaucracy, he has earned a reputation for taking tough decisions in public office.
In April 2026, Mundhe was transferred as Secretary of the Disability Welfare Department and was also appointed Principal Secretary in the Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation Department headed by Minister Girish Mahajan.
However, before he could assume charge, the transfer order was put on hold, leaving him without a posting for nearly a month. His appointment as FDA Commissioner now formally assigns him to a new role, though some officials reportedly view the posting as a setback considering his seniority.
