Srinagar: The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed Mohammad Aijaz, a 2012-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT-cadre, to be relieved from the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and report for his transferred posting in Arunachal Pradesh.
Aijaz, currently serving as Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR), Jammu and Kashmir, has been declared “stand relieved” with effect from October 5, 2026, according to reports on the latest MHA order. The J&K government’s official officer profile confirms his 2012 batch, AGMUT cadre and current RD&PR assignment.
MHA Sets Deadline for Aijaz’s Relief
The latest direction follows an earlier MHA order transferring Aijaz from Jammu and Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh along with two other AGMUT-cadre IAS officers. The September 3 order reportedly required the officers to be relieved from their existing assignments within 15 days and join their new postings.
According to reports on the latest order, Aijaz had not been relieved from his existing assignment within the stipulated period. The MHA has now directed that he will stand relieved from the J&K government with effect from October 5 and must proceed to his new posting in Arunachal Pradesh.
Continued Non-Compliance Could Invite Action
The latest MHA direction reportedly states that continued non-compliance with the transfer instructions could lead to administrative or disciplinary consequences, including stoppage of salary and debarment from promotion and central deputation.
Aijaz has been serving as Secretary of J&K’s Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department since September 2024, according to the J&K government’s official officer profile. He was transferred to the department after previously serving in other administrative assignments in the Union Territory.
Aijaz to Move to Arunachal Pradesh
The transfer is part of the Centre’s administrative movement of AGMUT-cadre officers between the Union Territories and states covered by the cadre.
The September transfer order also covered Harvinder Singh (IAS: 2019: AGMUT) and Shishir Gupta (IAS: 2020: AGMUT), who were moved from Jammu and Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh.
The latest MHA direction is expected to facilitate Aijaz’s movement from Jammu and Kashmir to his designated Arunachal Pradesh posting from October 5.
