Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has responded to Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme in Indore, calling for discussions on education, youth and children’s issues to be based on facts and data.
Yadav said the state’s development in areas such as school education, medical education, per-capita income, power generation and employment should be considered while discussing Madhya Pradesh’s progress. He described the programme as “Jhooth Ki Goonj” and alleged that facts were not presented during the event.
The ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme was held in Indore on September 19, where Rahul Gandhi addressed students and raised issues concerning education and youth.
Mohan Yadav Calls for Fact-Based Discussion on Education and Youth
Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s programme, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said discussions involving children, students and young people should be supported by facts and statistics.
According to Yadav, Madhya Pradesh has made progress in school education through various schemes and initiatives, including Sandipani schools.
He cited the following figures while highlighting the state government’s claims about development:
- School education budget has increased from around ₹2,000 crore to ₹38,658 crore.
- The state government says the school dropout rate has been brought down significantly, with the aim of reaching zero.
- Students are being provided facilities such as uniforms, bicycles, laptops and scooters under various initiatives.

Medical Education Sees Expansion, Says CM
Yadav also highlighted the expansion of medical education in Madhya Pradesh.
According to figures cited by the Chief Minister, the state had only five medical colleges between 1956 and 2002-03, while the number has now increased to 33 medical colleges.
He further said that the number of medical seats has increased from around 680 to more than 7,000.
The Chief Minister presented these figures while arguing that the state has expanded educational and healthcare infrastructure over the years.
Madhya Pradesh Per-Capita Income Rises, Says Government
Yadav also referred to the increase in Madhya Pradesh’s per-capita income.
According to the figures cited by him:
- Per-capita income was around ₹11,000 during the period up to 2002-03.
- It has increased to approximately ₹1.59 lakh currently.
- Power generation capacity has increased from around 5,000 MW to approximately 32,000 MW.
The Chief Minister cited these figures as indicators of the state’s economic and infrastructure expansion.
Government Highlights Recruitment and Employment Measures
Employment and government recruitment were another focus of Yadav’s response.
He said around 18,000 posts are being filled in the police department, with approximately 10,000 young people already trained and inducted into police service, according to the figures cited by the state government.
Yadav also said recruitment is underway in the School Education Department.
Key figures cited by the Chief Minister include:
- 10,000 school education department recruitments are being undertaken.
- 7,000 teachers/lecturers have been recruited.
- More than one lakh promotions have been carried out by the government.
- The government is working towards creating one lakh posts every year, according to Yadav.
CM Urges Rahul Gandhi to Discuss MP Development with Data
Yadav said that if Rahul Gandhi wants to engage with the people of Madhya Pradesh, discussions should focus on the state’s development and be supported by facts and statistics.
The Chief Minister pointed to education, healthcare, electricity, income and employment as areas where he said Madhya Pradesh has made progress.
His remarks came in response to Rahul Gandhi’s student-focused programme in Indore, which was presented as a platform for dialogue with students. Recent reporting on the event says Gandhi discussed issues related to education, student participation and employment.
Yadav said public discussions should focus on development and achievements rather than what he described as creating confusion among people.
