Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has called for making the Madhya Pradesh Police the best police force in the country, urging officers to strengthen law and order, effectively implement new criminal laws, intensify anti-drug campaigns, and ensure robust security during upcoming festivals.
Chairing a meeting of senior police officials at the Police Headquarters in Bhopal, the Chief Minister congratulated the department for completing nearly 25,000 promotions across various police ranks, describing it as a significant achievement that would further strengthen policing in the state.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Neeraj Mandloi, Director General of Police Kailash Makwana, and other senior officials.
CM Mohan Yadav Congratulates Police Department on 25,000 Promotions
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav praised the state government’s promotion drive, saying the police department received the highest number of promotions among all government departments.
He said promotions have been granted to nearly 25,000 personnel, covering ranks from:
- Constables.
- Assistant Sub-Inspectors.
- Sub-Inspectors.
- Inspectors.
The Chief Minister said these promotions would improve morale within the police force and help deliver better public services while strengthening law and order across Madhya Pradesh.

CM Calls for Madhya Pradesh Police to Become the Best in India
Dr. Yadav urged senior officers to continue improving policing standards so that Madhya Pradesh Police becomes one of the country’s most respected law enforcement agencies.
He said officers should focus on:
- Maintaining strong law and order.
- Tightening control over crime.
- Delivering better policing outcomes.
- Preserving public trust in the police.
According to the Chief Minister, citizens already have confidence in the police, and every effort should be made to maintain and strengthen that trust.
Effective Implementation of New Criminal Laws
The Chief Minister directed police officials to ensure the effective implementation of the new criminal laws introduced by the Central Government.
He instructed senior officers across the state to:
- Monitor implementation of the new legal framework.
- Ensure proper training and preparedness.
- Strengthen law enforcement from the state capital to district levels.
He also directed police personnel to remain fully prepared for upcoming festivals and Independence Day celebrations to maintain peace and public safety.
Police Asked to Support Development in Former Naxal-Affected Areas
Dr. Mohan Yadav said that significant progress has been made in eliminating Naxalism under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
He noted that Madhya Pradesh’s Naxal-affected regions have returned to normalcy and said the police should actively participate in development activities in these areas.
According to the Chief Minister, police personnel can play an important role in rebuilding confidence and supporting developmental initiatives after the end of extremist activities.
Government to Continue Statewide Anti-Drug Campaign
The Chief Minister stressed that the anti-drug campaign should continue across Madhya Pradesh without interruption.
Referring to the slogan “Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori”, he said the campaign has received a positive public response, with citizens taking pledges against drug abuse.
He directed officials to:
- Continue awareness campaigns across the state.
- Coordinate with the Higher Education Department.
- Organise awareness programmes in educational institutions.
- Honour individuals contributing significantly to anti-drug initiatives.
- Strictly prevent illegal transportation of narcotic substances along interstate borders.
The Chief Minister also expressed confidence that Madhya Pradesh could achieve its anti-drug targets ahead of schedule.
Security Support for Industries and Institutions
Highlighting the state’s industrial growth, Dr. Yadav said adequate security arrangements are essential for industries and institutions.
He instructed officials to facilitate the deployment of licensed security personnel through SISF for industrial units and other organisations.
The Chief Minister also asked senior officers to prepare for future security challenges arising from economic development and social changes.
Recruitment and Promotions to Continue in Police Department
Dr. Mohan Yadav said the state government is committed to strengthening the police force through regular recruitment and promotions.
Key directions issued include:
- Continue Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings whenever vacancies arise.
- Prepare an annual promotion calendar.
- Eliminate backlog vacancies.
- Fill all sanctioned posts without unnecessary delay.
- Ensure recruitment at every level of the police force.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to give special attention to recruitment from the Baiga, Sahariya, and Bharia tribal communities in six districts where these Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) reside.
Every District to Have Its Own Police Band
The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that every district has its own Police Band before the next Republic Day celebrations.
He noted that most districts have already filled the required positions, while the remaining districts should complete the process at the earliest.
The meeting also reviewed:
- Police Housing Board projects.
- Vehicle requirements.
- Police Recruitment Board activities.
- Strengthening forensic support similar to Scene of Crime (SoC) investigation units.
Madhya Pradesh Government Focuses on Stronger Law Enforcement
The Chief Minister reiterated that strengthening the police force remains a top priority for the state government.
With large-scale promotions, ongoing recruitment, implementation of new criminal laws, anti-drug initiatives, improved security infrastructure, and enhanced policing in former Naxal-affected regions, the Madhya Pradesh government aims to build a more efficient, responsive, and citizen-centric police force while maintaining peace and public safety across the state.
