Bhubaneswar: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) and Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) organised a roadshow in Kolkata on September 28, 2026, to attract investment in the Angul Aluminium Park and promote the development of downstream aluminium industries in Odisha.
Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy attended the event as the Chief Guest. The roadshow brought together more than 250 representatives from investors, industry associations and other stakeholders.
A key attraction for prospective investors is NALCO’s offer to supply 50,000 tonnes of hot metal annually at a discounted rate to companies setting up downstream units at the park.
NALCO Offers 50,000 Tonnes of Hot Metal Annually
NALCO said investors establishing downstream units at the Angul Aluminium Park will have access to 50,000 tonnes of hot metal per year at a discounted rate.
The availability of hot metal as a raw material is intended to support companies looking to establish value-added aluminium manufacturing facilities at the park.
The key investment proposition includes:
- 50,000 tonnes of hot metal annually from NALCO
- Discounted supply of hot metal to eligible investors
- Industrial land for downstream units
- Reliable power and water supply
- Road connectivity
- Research and development and testing facilities

Angul Aluminium Park Aims to Promote Downstream Industries
Angul Aluminium Park Private Limited (AAPPL) is a joint initiative of NALCO and IDCO located at Anugola in Odisha.
The park has been developed with the objective of creating an ecosystem for downstream aluminium industries and supporting greater value addition within the sector.
The facilities and infrastructure highlighted for investors include:
- Industrial land
- Power and water availability
- Road connectivity
- R&D and testing facilities
- Access to NALCO’s hot metal as a raw material
The integrated infrastructure is aimed at helping industries establish manufacturing units closer to the source of aluminium production.
Molten Metal Corridor to Support Industrial Development
IDCO Managing Director D. Prasanth Kumar Reddy highlighted the park’s molten metal corridor and the availability of land, water and energy as key advantages for investors.
According to the release, the park is positioned for significant expansion, with a particular focus on downstream industries and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The availability of hot metal from NALCO is expected to support industries involved in producing higher-value aluminium products.
G. Kishan Reddy Highlights Need to Reduce Aluminium Product Imports
Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy highlighted the opportunity to increase domestic value addition in the aluminium sector.
According to the information shared at the event, India currently imports nearly USD 4 billion worth of high-finish aluminium products, despite having substantial domestic aluminium production capacity.
The Minister said bridging this import gap through greater value addition and a stronger downstream industrial ecosystem is a priority aligned with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
Mines Secretary Calls for More High-Value Aluminium Products
Keshav Chandra, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, emphasised the need for the aluminium industry to move beyond primary production and increase the manufacturing of high-value finished products.

- Innovation
- Indigenous research and development
- High-value aluminium products
- Greater downstream manufacturing
The emphasis on downstream production is intended to help strengthen India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities and reduce dependence on imports of value-added aluminium products.

Brijendra Pratap Singh, CMD, NALCO, said the Angul Aluminium Park is intended to convert investment opportunities into industrial partnerships and create an integrated downstream ecosystem around NALCO’s operations.

The initiative is also expected to create opportunities for MSMEs and other downstream industries involved in value-added aluminium manufacturing.
