Three Major Developments Drove Record Generation
The record monthly generation was supported by three major developments that expanded NHPC’s operational generation capacity:
- 800 MW Parbati-II Hydro Electric Project: The project was commissioned, adding significant hydroelectric generation capacity.
- 1,000 MW addition at Subansiri Lower HE Project: This includes 750 MW added during FY 2025-26 and another 250 MW in May 2026.
- 510 MW Teesta-V Power Station restored: The power station was successfully restored in July 2026 after remaining out of service since the October 2023 flash floods.
These developments have strengthened NHPC’s ability to utilise available water resources and maximise renewable power generation.
NHPC’s Operational Installed Capacity Rises to 7,651 MW
Following the recent capacity additions and restoration, NHPC’s operational installed capacity has increased to 7,651 MW.
The company’s current operational capacity comprises:
- Hydropower: 7,251 MW
