Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Visits Bihar Saras Mela 2025, Highlights Rural Entrepreneurship and Women Empowerment

Chief Minister inspects stalls, interacts with artisans, and applauds Jeevika Didis’ initiatives promoting self-employment and skill development across Bihar.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday visited the ongoing Bihar Saras Mela 2025 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, inspecting arrangements and facilities while interacting with exhibitors and officials. The annual fair, organized from December 12 to December 28, 2025, showcases handicrafts, folk arts, and regional cuisines not only from Bihar but also from other states across India.

Inspection of Stalls and Interaction with Exhibitors

During his visit, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar carefully toured the various stalls and engaged with artisans, entrepreneurs, and vendors. He inquired about the displayed products, sales trends, and challenges faced by the participants. Exhibitors informed the CM that visitors have shown significant interest in their products, with many items selling well. The organizers and vendors expressed satisfaction with the overall arrangements and facilities provided at the fair.

Promotion of Rural Entrepreneurship

Highlighting the importance of supporting rural entrepreneurship, CM Nitish Kumar said, “The Bihar Saras Mela has its unique identity. It is heartening to see such a wide array of products. The government has taken multiple initiatives to promote rural entrepreneurship.” He particularly mentioned efforts under the Sustainable Livelihood Mission (Jeevika), aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs, referred to as Jeevika Didis, by providing skill development, financial support, and avenues for self-employment. Many stalls at the fair were dedicated to products crafted by these women, further showcasing the state’s focus on inclusive growth and community empowerment.

Government Support and Administrative Oversight

Officials briefed the CM on the smooth conduct of the fair, and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar appreciated the arrangements and management. The visit was attended by senior officials, including Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Kumar Ravi, Secretary Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, and CEO of Jeevika Himanshu Sharma, among others.

Bihar Saras Mela 2025 continues to be a vibrant platform for artisans, entrepreneurs, and small businesses to promote their products, preserve local crafts, and encourage regional tourism. The fair serves as a significant initiative to boost economic opportunities, especially for rural communities, while fostering the state’s rich cultural heritage.
