New Delhi: NTPC Limited has announced the appointment of Dr. Som Nath Sachdeva as a Non-Official Independent Director on its Board of Directors. The appointment is expected to strengthen the company’s leadership framework by bringing additional expertise, independent oversight and strategic guidance.
The announcement was made through a regulatory filing submitted by NTPC to the stock exchanges on July 17, 2026.
Ministry of Power Approves Appointment of Dr. Som Nath Sachdeva
According to the company’s regulatory disclosure, the Ministry of Power, Government of India, issued an order dated July 17, 2026, conveying the appointment of Dr. Som Nath Sachdeva as a Non-Official Independent Director on NTPC’s Board.
Dr. Sachdeva’s appointment will be effective for a period of three years from the date of notification or until further orders are issued, whichever is earlier.
The appointment reflects the government’s continued focus on strengthening corporate governance and ensuring independent representation on the boards of major public sector enterprises.
