Odisha Transfers 2 IAS Officers; Dr Poma Tudu Appointed Additional Secretary

The Odisha government has transferred two IAS officers, appointing Dr Poma Tudu as Additional Secretary in the ST & SC Development Department and Smita Pani as Managing Director of Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL).

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has carried out a minor administrative reshuffle, transferring two IAS officers to key positions in the state’s tribal welfare and healthcare administration. The changes are aimed at strengthening governance in the areas of Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste welfare, food safety, and medical supply management.

According to an official notification, Dr. Poma Tudu (IAS:2012) has been appointed Additional Secretary to the Government in the ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare (M&BCW) Department, while Smita Pani (IAS:NSCS:2020) has been posted as the Managing Director of the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL).

Dr. Poma Tudu Gets Key Role in Tribal Welfare Department

Prior to her latest posting, Dr. Poma Tudu was serving as the Managing Director of the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL). She was also holding the additional responsibilities of Commissioner, Food Safety, Odisha, and Managing Director of TDCCOL.

Under the latest transfer order, she has been posted as Additional Secretary in the ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department, one of Odisha’s key departments responsible for implementing welfare programmes for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, minorities, and backward classes.

Importantly, Dr. Tudu will continue to hold her additional responsibilities as Commissioner, Food Safety, Odisha, and Managing Director, TDCCOL, alongside her new assignment.

Smita Pani Takes Charge as OSMCL Managing Director

In the second appointment, Smita Pani (IAS:NSCS:2020) has been named the new Managing Director of the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL).

Before this posting, she was serving in the General Administration & Public Grievance (GA&PG) Department.

As Managing Director of OSMCL, she will oversee procurement, supply chain management, and distribution of medicines, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies to government health institutions across Odisha.

Focus on Governance and Service Delivery

The latest postings are part of the Odisha government’s routine administrative adjustments aimed at ensuring efficient governance across important departments.

With Dr. Poma Tudu moving to the ST & SC Development Department while retaining key additional responsibilities, and Smita Pani taking charge of OSMCL, the state government expects to strengthen policy implementation in tribal welfare, food safety, and healthcare logistics.

The transfer orders take immediate effect.
