Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday effected a minor reshuffle in the IAS cadre, bringing changes in the General Administration, Odisha Mining Corporation and Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities departments.
The reshuffle involves three IAS officers, including senior bureaucrat Suresh Kumar Vashishth, who has been appointed Principal Secretary to the General Administration and Public Grievances Department.
Suresh Vashishth Gets General Administration Charge
Suresh Kumar Vashishth, a 1998-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as Principal Secretary to the General Administration and Public Grievances Department.
Vashishth was earlier serving as Principal Secretary to the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department.
In addition to his regular charge, he was also holding the additional charge of the General Administration and Public Grievances Department and the Parliamentary Affairs Department.
Following Monday’s reshuffle, Vashishth will now hold the General Administration and Public Grievances portfolio as Principal Secretary.
He will, however, continue to hold the additional charge of the Parliamentary Affairs Department.
Sudhansu Mohan Samal Appointed OMC CMD
The government has also appointed Sudhansu Mohan Samal, a 2010-batch IAS officer, as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC).
Samal will continue to hold his existing additional charge as Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Central Division), Cuttack.
With Samal’s appointment, the additional appointment of Girish S N as Chairman of Odisha Mining Corporationwill cease from the date Samal takes charge as OMC Chairman-cum-Managing Director.
The appointment places Samal at the helm of one of Odisha’s key state-owned mining organisations while retaining his additional responsibility as RDC, Central Division.
Dr Brundha D Moves to Social Security Department
Dr Brundha D, a 2010-batch IAS officer, has been appointed Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department.
Brundha was serving as Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) and was also holding additional charge as Chief Executive Officer of the State Health Assurance Society.
Her new assignment brings a change in the leadership of the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department following Vashishth’s move to the General Administration and Public Grievances Department.
The latest reshuffle is relatively minor in scale but affects several important administrative responsibilities, including the General Administration department, the state’s major mining corporation and the social security portfolio.
