Ahmedabad: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has launched DHARA (Digital Hub for Advanced Reservoir Analytics) to strengthen reservoir management, improve field performance and support better recovery outcomes through advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence.
The platform was inaugurated on September 28, 2026, by O.P. Sinha, Director (Exploration), ONGC, at the Institute of Reservoir Studies (IRS) in Ahmedabad.
DHARA is designed to bring complex subsurface data together with advanced reservoir analytics, enabling ONGC engineers and technical teams to access more connected and actionable insights for reservoir and field-level decision-making.
What Is DHARA?
DHARA stands for Digital Hub for Advanced Reservoir Analytics. The name, which means “earth” or “land”, reflects the platform’s focus on understanding the subsurface and improving the use of underground reservoir data.
The platform combines four major forms of analytics:
- Descriptive analytics to understand what has happened.
- Diagnostic analytics to identify why it happened.
- Predictive analytics to assess what may happen next.
- Prescriptive analytics to support decisions on possible actions.
DHARA also features an AI-enabled interface, helping users access and interpret reservoir information more efficiently.
Platform Connects Asset-Level Data With Well-Level Insights
DHARA connects enterprise-scale data with focused subsurface analytics across the full operational range, from Assets to individual Wells.

DHARA Developed In-House at Institute of Reservoir Studies
The platform has been developed in-house at ONGC’s Institute of Reservoir Studies (IRS), Ahmedabad.
It was further refined through engagement and feedback from ONGC’s operating assets. This development approach has helped align the platform with practical reservoir engineering requirements and the needs of field teams.
The initiative is aimed at converting complex subsurface datasets into clearer insights that can support day-to-day engineering and reservoir management decisions.
