Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to accelerate financial approvals and expenditure under the state’s 2026-27 budget, setting a target of issuing 70% of financial approvals and spending at least 60% of the total budget by November.
The directions were issued during a review meeting on budget approvals and expenditure held in the presence of Finance Minister Suresh Khanna. The Chief Minister said the focus should be on timely utilisation of allocated funds and ensuring that approved schemes and projects are implemented as planned.
Departments Asked to Review Budget Expenditure
Yogi directed the Finance Minister to hold regular meetings with departmental ministers to review budget expenditure and address delays in approvals or spending. Finance Department officials were asked to provide regular reports on financial approvals and expenditure to the Chief Minister’s Office.

The Chief Minister also instructed department heads and senior officials to conduct field visits and regularly review the progress of development works. He said delays in projects or deficiencies in quality should result in accountability for the concerned agencies and responsible officials.
According to officials, Uttar Pradesh’s total budget for the financial year 2026-27 is ₹9,99,056.48 crore, including ₹5,01,957.09 crore allocated for development schemes.
So far, financial approvals worth ₹5,15,918.44 crore, or 51.6% of the total budget, have been issued. These include approvals worth more than ₹2.13 lakh crore related to various schemes. Actual expenditure so far stands at ₹2,83,870.11 crore.
Focus on Farmer Credit and GI-Tagged Products
The Chief Minister also directed officials to map farmers in every village and identify those eligible for Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) so they can be connected with banking services.
He asked officials to plan a Rural Credit Conclave to improve the availability of credit in rural areas and strengthen banking services.
Yogi also directed the MSME Department to promote and brand Uttar Pradesh’s GI-tagged products and handicrafts and expand their publicity to provide them with wider market access.
The Chief Minister said funds would not be a constraint for development-related schemes, while departments would be responsible for ensuring effective, transparent and timely utilisation of the available budget.
