Kolkata: RailTel Corporation of India Limited organised an Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan to promote the effective and progressive use of Hindi as the Official Language and discuss emerging opportunities and challenges related to Hindi in official communication.
The conference also focused on knowledge-sharing, technology-driven language initiatives and respect for India’s linguistic diversity.
RailTel Highlights Efforts to Promote Hindi
The programme began with the National Song, ceremonial lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Zakir Hussain Siddiqui, Principal Executive Director, RailTel Eastern Region, highlighted the importance of promoting Hindi and outlined various initiatives being undertaken by RailTel to increase its use in official work.
A presentation on RailTel’s Official Language activities and achievements was also made during the event. This was followed by the release of a special issue of RailTel’s Official Language magazine, ‘Tavishi’.

RailTel CMD Sanjai Kumar Emphasises Linguistic Diversity
Mr. Sanjai Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, RailTel, stressed the importance of encouraging employees from non-Hindi-speaking regions to learn Hindi and use it in their day-to-day official work.
At the same time, he emphasised that all Indian languages should be given equal respect, highlighting the importance of India’s linguistic diversity.
Mr. Manoj Tandon, Director/POM, RailTel, also contributed to the programme by reciting a self-composed poem.
Mr. Rajesh B. Nair, Member Secretary, Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC/NARAKAS), appreciated RailTel’s efforts towards promoting Hindi as the Official Language.
Chief Guest Calls for Wider Use of Hindi
The Chief Guest, Mr. Prem Sagar Gupta, General Manager, Metro Railway, said that the use of Hindi should not remain limited to formal occasions.
He emphasised that Hindi should become a natural part of everyday life and communication, particularly in official interactions.
Session on Artificial Intelligence and Official Language
A key session at the Rajbhasha Sammelan focused on the growing role of technology and artificial intelligence in language development.
Mr. Balendu Sharma ‘Dadhich’, CEO, AILGO Technologies, Dubai, delivered a lecture on “Artificial Intelligence and Official Language: Opportunities, Challenges and the Future.”
The session explored emerging opportunities and challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence in official language activities.
Dr. Barun Kumar and Prof. Amar Pal Sharma also shared their views on important topics related to the Official Language.
Hindi Quiz and News-Reading Competitions Organised
The conference also included activities aimed at encouraging wider participation in Hindi.
