The company disclosed the development in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.

Project Awarded by Tripura Government

The contract has been awarded by the Director IT, Government of Tripura, for the supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of internet connectivity in schools under the state government. The project aims to improve access to digital learning resources and support technology-enabled education in Tripura.

Timeline and Execution

RailTel will execute the project as a domestic work order, with the completion deadline set for July 15, 2026. The company will be responsible not only for deploying the connectivity infrastructure but also for its ongoing maintenance, ensuring uninterrupted internet access in schools.

The regulatory filing clarified that the order does not involve any related party transaction, and that the promoter or promoter group of RailTel has no interest in the entity awarding the contract.

Boost to Digital Education and Connectivity

The project aligns with the Government of India’s flagship initiatives such as Digital India and BharatNet, which aim to bridge the digital divide and promote inclusive digital access. By enabling reliable internet connectivity in government schools, the initiative is expected to significantly enhance digital education, e-learning, and smart classroom initiatives in the northeastern state.

RailTel’s extensive telecom network, laid along railway tracks across the country, gives it a strategic advantage in delivering connectivity solutions in remote and rural regions, including challenging terrains like the Northeast.
