New Delhi: REC Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Electrical Research and Development Association (ERDA) to enhance third-party quality testing, technical support, and capacity-building initiatives under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The collaboration aims to improve the reliability and efficiency of India’s power distribution infrastructure.
The MoU was signed at SCOPE Complex in New Delhi in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
Focus on Quality Assurance in RDSS Projects
Under the agreement, REC Limited and ERDA will work together to strengthen quality assurance mechanisms for materials used in RDSS projects across the country.
The partnership will ensure that all equipment and materials meet prescribed technical standards, thereby improving safety, durability, and operational reliability in the power distribution network.
Officials said the initiative will play a key role in reducing technical losses and improving overall system efficiency.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Prabhat Kumar Singh, Executive Director (RDSS), REC Limited, and Mr. Brijesh Sachdeva, Head of ERDA North.The ceremony was attended by Mr. Prince Dhawan, Executive Director (PMD), REC Ltd., along with senior officials from both REC and ERDA. The signing reflects a joint commitment to strengthening quality control and technical oversight in India’s distribution infrastructure projects.
Collaboration on Testing, Training and Technical Support
As part of the agreement, REC Limited and ERDA will collaborate on:
- Third-party quality testing of RDSS project materials
- Technical support for implementation
- Capacity-building and training initiatives
- Development of robust quality assurance frameworks
The initiative aims to introduce standardized testing protocols and strengthen accountability in project execution.
Strengthening India’s Power Distribution Ecosystem
The RDSS framework focuses on modernising and improving electricity distribution systems across India. With rising electricity demand and a strong push for infrastructure upgrades, ensuring the quality of materials has become a critical priority for long-term reliability and efficiency. The REC–ERDA partnership is expected to reinforce monitoring systems and support reforms in the power distribution sector.
