Maharashtra: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has handed over the project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Musalgaon Power Transmission Limited, to the successful bidder Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL).
The handover took place on September 9, 2026, marking an important step towards implementation of the transmission project aimed at strengthening Maharashtra’s power transmission network and supporting a more resilient power sector.
RECPDCL Hands Over Musalgaon Power Transmission SPV
The SPV was formally handed over by Ratnesh Kumar, General Manager (Engineering), RECPDCL, to Amit R. Naik, Chief Engineer (TBCB), Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited.
Senior officials from MSETCL, Maharashtra STU and RECPDCL were also present during the handover ceremony.
The transfer enables the successful bidder to proceed with implementation of the transmission project as envisaged.

₹560 Crore Transmission Project to Be Implemented in 12 Months
The Musalgaon transmission project has an estimated cost of ₹560 crore and is scheduled to be implemented within 12 months.
The project broadly includes the establishment of a new substation along with associated transmission lines and other works.

Project to Include 220/132/33 kV AIS Substation
A major component of the project is the establishment of a 220/132/33 kV Air Insulated Substation (AIS) at Musalgaon.
The project will also involve the development of transmission lines connecting Musalgaon with existing substations and associated infrastructure.

- 220 kV Double Circuit line: Around 111 km from Musalgaon to Babhaleshwar (existing) and Raymond (existing)
- 132 kV Double Circuit line: Around 13 km from Musalgaon to Sinner (existing)
- Substation: 220/132/33 kV AIS substation at Musalgaon
- Other works: Associated transmission infrastructure and related works
Project to Strengthen Maharashtra’s Power Transmission Network
The Musalgaon Power Transmission project is aimed at strengthening the transmission network in Maharashtra and supporting the reliability and resilience of the state’s power sector.
The development of additional transmission infrastructure, including the new AIS substation and transmission lines, is expected to enhance the state’s power transmission capabilities and support efficient electricity flow across the network.
