New Delhi: State-owned engineering and infrastructure company IRCON International Limited has announced that its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Hari Mohan Gupta will retire on June 30, 2026, upon attaining superannuation. Following his retirement, the Ministry of Railways has assigned additional charge of the post to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited CMD Saleem Ahmad for a period of one year.
The leadership change will come into effect from July 1, 2026, ensuring continuity at the top management level until a regular CMD is appointed.
Saleem Ahmad to Hold Additional Charge for One Year
As per the order issued by the Ministry of Railways on June 23, 2026, Saleem Ahmad will take over the additional responsibility of CMD, IRCON, for one year from the date he assumes charge.
Key points include:
- Tenure: 1 year (or until permanent appointment)
- Effective from: July 1, 2026 (or after assumption of charge)
- Position: Additional charge of CMD, IRCON International Limited
- Condition: Until regular CMD is appointed or further orders are issued
The arrangement is aimed at ensuring smooth administrative continuity.

Hari Mohan Gupta to Retire After Superannuation
Current CMD Hari Mohan Gupta will demit office on June 30, 2026, after completing his tenure. As a result, the CMD post at IRCON will become vacant from July 1, 2026.
The company has informed stock exchanges that it is taking all necessary steps for the transition in compliance with:
- Companies Act, 2013
- SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations
- Other applicable rules and regulations
Ministry of Railways Issues Official Order
The decision was formally communicated through an order issued by the Railway Board under the Ministry of Railways on June 23, 2026.
The order confirms that:
- The CMD post will remain vacant after June 30, 2026
- Saleem Ahmad will take additional charge
- Appointment is subject to formal assumption of office
- Arrangement is temporary until further notice
