Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has been awarded a significant contract valued at ₹115.79 crore by Central Railway for the upgradation of electric traction infrastructure in Maharashtra.
The Letter of Acceptance (LOA) pertains to Overhead Equipment (OHE) modification work aimed at upgrading the existing 1×25 KV electric traction system to a 2×25 KV AT (Auto Transformer) feeding system. The project will be executed in the Itarsi–Amla section under the Nagpur Division of Central Railway.
The upgradation is strategically targeted to support a freight loading capacity of 3,000 metric tonnes (MT), which is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency and capacity of this vital freight corridor.
The total value of the contract stands at ₹115,79,37,241.11 (Rupees One Hundred Fifteen Crore Seventy-Nine Lakh Thirty-Seven Thousand Two Hundred Forty-One and Eleven Paisa), inclusive of all applicable taxes.
In its official filing to the stock exchange, RVNL confirmed that the contract has been awarded in the normal course of business.
