New Delhi: Santosh Kumar Tiwari (ISS:2011), who was recommended for central deputation by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI), has been selected for appointment as Director in the Lokpal for a period of five years.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on August 19, 2026, Tiwari’s appointment has been made under the Central Staffing Scheme.
His tenure will be for five years from the date he assumes charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The appointment comes as part of the Centre’s ongoing exercise of placing officers from different organised services and cadres in key positions under the Central Staffing Scheme.
Yuvraj Ravindra Patil Shifted From Lokpal to DPIIT
In another significant development, Yuvraj Ravindra Patil (IRTS:2012), who is currently serving as Director in the Lokpal, has been appointed Director in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
Patil’s appointment has been made on a lateral shift basis.
As per the DoPT order issued on August 19, 2026, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the recommendation of the Civil Services Board (CSB) for his appointment to the post under the Central Staffing Scheme.
The lateral shift will be for a tenure up to March 15, 2027, which represents the balance period of his existing five-year deputation tenure at Director level under the Central Staffing Scheme.
His tenure will continue until March 15, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Patil Has Been Serving in Lokpal Since March 2022
Yuvraj Ravindra Patil has been associated with the Lokpal since March 2022, when he assumed charge as Deputy Secretary in the anti-corruption ombudsman.
After serving in that capacity, he was re-designated as Director in the Lokpal in January 2026.
His latest appointment will now take him to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), where he will serve as Director on a lateral shift basis for the remaining period of his deputation tenure.
Two Administrative Changes Under Central Staffing Scheme
The two orders represent separate administrative movements under the Centre’s Central Staffing Scheme.
While Santosh Kumar Tiwari is being brought in as Director in the Lokpal following his recommendation for central deputation by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, Yuvraj Ravindra Patil is moving from the Lokpal to DPIIT without extending or restarting his deputation tenure.
Patil’s appointment has specifically been approved for the balance period of his existing five-year tenure, ending on March 15, 2027.
