New Delhi: The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and the International Coaching Federation (International Coaching Federation), USA, jointly convened a high-level roundtable on “Coaching for National Transformation” in New Delhi, focusing on embedding coaching as a strategic tool for governance excellence and leadership development in Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs).
The event brought together top leadership from major public sector organisations, including CMDs, Directors, SCOPE Executive Board Members, and senior officials.
Leadership Deliberations on Coaching for Organisational Growth
The roundtable featured key addresses by:
- Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE
- Magdalena Nowicka Mook, CEO, ICF
- Robert Garcia, Vice President, CIO, ICF
Discussions centred on the increasing relevance of coaching in today’s evolving workplace and how public sector organisations can integrate it into their strategic frameworks to improve leadership effectiveness and organisational performance.
Coaching as a Strategic Tool for National Transformation
Highlighting the vision behind the initiative, Atul Sobti emphasized SCOPE and ICF’s commitment to strengthening governance excellence and national leadership capabilities.
He noted that successful integration of coaching into organisational systems requires:
- Greater awareness across institutions
- Development of a strong coaching culture
- Availability of qualified professional coaches
He further highlighted that the SCOPE–ICF MoU outlines a structured roadmap to promote coaching awareness, develop a framework for coaching culture in PSEs, and build access to national and international certified coaches.
Global Perspective on Coaching and Leadership Development
Magdalena Nowicka Mook described coaching as a “strategic accelerator of performance” for global leadership. She stressed the importance of prioritising well-being, values, and resilience in the face of geopolitical and economic challenges.
Robert Garcia advocated for building a strong coaching culture that enhances employee engagement and promotes human-centric leadership, helping organisations shift from rigid hierarchies to collaborative work environments.
Focus on Public Sector Transformation
In his concluding remarks, Ayush Gupta highlighted the importance of coaching in the public sector, especially for managing diverse expectations and improving leadership capacity across organisations.
He underscored that structured coaching systems can significantly enhance decision-making, efficiency, and organisational responsiveness in public enterprises.

The collaboration between SCOPE and ICF aims to systematically integrate professional coaching systems into India’s public sector ecosystem, aligning with global best practices and internationally recognised coaching standards.
