New Delhi: The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) jointly observed the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 with a special yoga session held at The Ashok Hotel, New Delhi. The event highlighted the growing focus on wellness, mindfulness, and holistic health within India’s public sector ecosystem.
The programme was attended by senior government officials and leaders from public sector enterprises, reinforcing the importance of yoga in corporate and institutional well-being.
Senior Officials Lead Yoga Celebrations at The Ashok
The event was graced by key dignitaries including:
- Mr. Bhuvnesh Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India
- Mr. Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE
- Mugdha Sinha, Managing Director, ITDC
Senior officials from various ministries and Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) also participated in the session.
The initiative marks the second consecutive year of collaboration between SCOPE and ITDC in promoting health and wellness through yoga.

Nationwide Yoga Celebrations Led by Ministry of Tourism
The Ministry of Tourism observed International Yoga Day 2026 through multiple programmes across India, reaffirming its commitment to promoting wellness tourism, holistic health, and mindful living within the hospitality and tourism sector.
Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, participated in a yoga session at Shantikshetra Ashram in Karjat, Maharashtra, where he emphasized yoga’s role in enabling individuals to serve society and the nation with improved physical and mental strength.
CPSE Participation and Institutional Wellness Drive
As part of the celebrations at The Ashok, more than 150 representatives from over 10 Central Public Sector Enterprises participated in the yoga session.
The programme was conducted by expert instructors from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) and also included participation from officials of the Ministry of Tourism and the Department of Public Enterprises.
The event emphasized the integration of yoga into workplace culture to enhance productivity, mental clarity, and stress management.
Theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” Highlights Holistic Well-Being
This year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” focused on promoting physical fitness, emotional balance, mental well-being, and longevity.
Tourism Secretary Mr. Bhuvnesh Kumar described yoga as India’s timeless gift to the world, stating that it fosters harmony between mind, body, and spirit while encouraging healthier communities and lifestyles.
Yoga Outreach in Hospitality Education Sector
Extending the celebrations beyond government institutions, Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs) across India organized yoga sessions and awareness programmes.
Students, faculty members, and staff participated actively, promoting the idea of integrating wellness practices into future careers in the hospitality and tourism industry.
The International Day of Yoga celebrations organized by SCOPE and ITDC reflected a strong commitment to embedding wellness and mindfulness into India’s public sector and tourism ecosystem. With participation from senior officials, CPSEs, and educational institutions, the event reinforced yoga’s role in building healthier and more resilient workplaces.
