New Delhi: The Delhi government is set to combine a major infrastructure rollout with welfare and public-service initiatives as part of the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan, beginning September 17 and continuing till October 17.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the month-long campaign will mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life and focus on taking government schemes and service-oriented activities to residents across the capital.
The government has lined up projects worth around ₹13,800 crore for inauguration and foundation-laying during the campaign, covering water and sewerage, public works, power, irrigation and flood control, and tourism.
₹13,800 Crore Project Pipeline
According to Gupta, the proposed project rollout includes:
- ₹8,000 crore in Delhi Jal Board projects
- ₹2,800 crore in Public Works Department projects
- ₹1,500 crore in power-sector initiatives
- ₹365 crore in Irrigation and Flood Control Department projects
- ₹77 crore in tourism projects

Separately, the government’s Sewa Pakhwada, scheduled from September 17 to October 2, will see several completed civic and infrastructure projects inaugurated. These include the third phase of the Barapullah Elevated Road, water and sewerage works, school infrastructure, power projects and automated vehicle-testing facilities. The Barapullah Phase-III project has an estimated cost of about ₹1,635 crore and connects Sarai Kale Khan with Mayur Vihar.
Welfare Camps Across 70 Constituencies
The Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan will also have a strong beneficiary-outreach component.
Key initiatives include:
- Camps in all 70 Delhi Assembly constituencies, with three-day camps planned in each constituency to facilitate registration for Delhi and Central government schemes.
- A mega blood-donation drive on September 17, with a target of 2,500 units.
- Health check-ups for senior citizens.
- Organ-donation awareness through the State Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organisation.
- Sanitation activities and intensified efforts for Yamuna cleanliness.
- Felicitation of more than 4,000 Anganwadi and ASHA workers.
The campaign will also feature a Sewa Jyoti Kalash Yatra across Delhi’s 14 districts and 70 constituencies.
Youth and Education Drive
The government plans to involve around 5,000 government and private schools through painting, speech and other competitions centred on students’ vision of a developed India.
An innovation challenge is also planned to encourage young people to develop ideas and solutions.
The campaign is part of a wider BJP-led national outreach programme running from September 17 to October 17, with similar Sewa Sankalp initiatives being organised in other states.
