Shimla: SJVN Limited conducted a series of cleanliness drives, awareness programmes, waste management activities and community outreach initiatives across its projects and locations under the “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026” campaign.
The activities focused on promoting cleanliness, waste segregation, plastic waste management, water conservation, personal hygiene and responsible waste disposal. Students, employees, local communities and women’s groups participated in various programmes organised across SJVN’s project locations in Himachal Pradesh.
The campaign included Gyan Yatras, cleanliness drives, awareness rallies, quizzes, Swachhata Pledges, community outreach programmes and waste collection activities.
Gyan Yatra and Waste Management Awareness at Tutu
At SJVN’s Corporate Headquarters in Shimla, a Gyan Yatra was organised at Tutu for students of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Tutu.
Students visited a Garbage Processing Unit, where they were sensitised about:
- Waste segregation
- Plastic waste management
- Responsible waste disposal
- The importance of maintaining clean surroundings
A cleanliness drive was also conducted near Sanjauli Housing Board Colony as part of the campaign.

NJHPS Organises Cleanliness Drive and Awareness Activities
The Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS) organised a cleanliness drive along NH-05 at CTU-1.
At GSSS Jeori, SJVN also organised a series of awareness activities, including:
- Swachhata Rally
- Quiz competition
- Awareness session on water conservation
- Waste management awareness
- Gyan Yatra to the Himalayan Green Tribe Solid Waste Management Plant
These activities were aimed at helping students understand practical approaches to waste management and conservation of natural resources.
Rampur HPS Conducts Black Spot Cleaning Drive
Rampur Hydro Power Station (Rampur HPS) conducted a Black Spot Cleaning Drive at Dattnagar Market and Bus Stand in collaboration with the local community.
The initiative focused on cleaning vulnerable areas and encouraging community participation in maintaining public spaces.
As part of the campaign, jute bags were also distributed to promote alternatives to single-use plastic and encourage more sustainable consumption practices.
LHEP-I Conducts Multiple Swachhata Activities
LHEP-I organised cleanliness drives at CTU-2 Rewali and GSSS Nither.
The activities included:
- Swachhata Pledge
- Awareness Rally
- Jal Sanchay Samvaad
- SWM-2026 Quiz
- Zero-Waste Kho-Kho Competition
The programmes combined cleanliness awareness with water conservation and waste management, while also using interactive activities to engage students and communities.
DSHEP Focuses on Water Conservation and Waste Segregation
DSHEP organised a quiz at GSSS Karot covering several environmental and sanitation-related topics.
Students participated in a quiz focused on:
- Water conservation
- Four-way source segregation
- Liquid waste management
- Rainwater harvesting
Meanwhile, Sunni Dam HEP provided sanitation materials to GSSS Sunni to support hygiene and cleanliness practices among students.
The Satluj Sanjeevani Mobile Health Unit (MHU) also conducted community awareness activities focusing on cleanliness and personal hygiene.
Workplace Cleanliness Drives Held at STPL
STPL, in collaboration with PMPL, organised a workplace cleanliness drive at the Service Building and JT-6.
The initiative focused on maintaining clean workplace surroundings and encouraging employees to adopt responsible waste management practices in their daily activities.
SJVN Supports Waste Segregation at Malyana
At SJVN’s Corporate Headquarters in Shimla, dustbins were donated to Gram Panchayat Malyana to support waste segregation at the community level.
A cleanliness drive was also conducted at a garbage-vulnerable point along the NH-5 Mehli–Malyana stretch.
The initiative aimed to improve waste management practices and address areas where waste accumulation had become a concern.
NJHPS Employees and Mahila Mandal Join Cleanliness Drive
At NJHPS, Jhakri, employees and members of the Mahila Mandal participated in a cleanliness drive near Kwari Road.
Jute bags and personal hygiene materials were distributed among Mahila Mandal members as part of the awareness and community outreach activities.
The programme encouraged local participation in cleanliness efforts while promoting reusable alternatives to single-use plastic.
Sunni Dam HEP Collects 85 Kg Solid Waste
At Sunni Dam HEP, a cleanliness drive was conducted around Kol Dam Colony and the office premises.
During the drive, approximately 85 kg of solid waste was collected. The waste was subsequently handed over to Nagar Panchayat Sunni for proper disposal.
The activity highlighted the importance of systematic waste collection and responsible disposal in maintaining clean residential and workplace areas.
