Shimla: State-owned power generator SJVN Limited has conducted a high-level operational review of its major hydropower facilities in Himachal Pradesh, led by Rajesh Kumar Chandel, Director (Projects), SJVN.
The review focused on accelerating construction activities at the 210 MW Luhri Hydro Electric Project (Stage-I) and improving generation, maintenance and operational practices at the 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station.
SJVN Reviews Progress of 210 MW Luhri HEP-I
During his visit to Luhri Hydro Electric Project Stage-I, Rajesh Kumar Chandel reviewed the progress of ongoing construction activities, site-related issues and the upcoming work plan.
He also interacted with the project team and contractors to assess the execution status and address issues related to project implementation.
Chandel stressed the need for:
- Effective coordination among all stakeholders
- Timely execution of ongoing works
- Maintaining quality standards
- Ensuring safety at the project site
- Adhering to stipulated project timelines
He appreciated the efforts of the project team and provided guidance for completing the ongoing works within the scheduled timeframe.

Operational Review of 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station
At the 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station, Chandel visited the Power House and reviewed various aspects of the facility’s operations.
The review covered:
- Power generation performance
- Operations and maintenance practices
- Technical arrangements
- Safety arrangements
- Reliable operation of the power station
Chandel emphasized the importance of maintaining safe, efficient and reliable operations and maintenance at the hydropower station.
SJVN Highlights Environmental Conservation
During his visit to Rampur HPS, Chandel also planted a sapling on the project premises.
The activity highlighted SJVN’s focus on environmental conservation and green initiatives alongside its power generation and infrastructure development activities.
