In a significant development, the Uttarakhand state government carried out a major reshuffle in the police department, affecting several senior officers. The reshuffle saw the transfer of five IPS officers, including key positions within the state’s law enforcement and administrative setup.
Among the most notable changes, a promotee IPS officer Karan Singh Nagnyal (SPSSH-2005), who had been serving as the Inspector General (IG) of Garhwal for over two years, has been reassigned. 2006 batch IPS officer Rajiv Swaroop will now take over the responsibility of IG Garhwal Range.
Additionally, 1997 batch IPS officer Amit Kumar Sinha, the Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, will now oversee the Sports Department and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). Due to this new responsibility, he will no longer manage the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS).
The reshuffle also addresses a crucial gap in the law and order section at the state headquarters, which had remained vacant following the departure of former Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar.
The full list of officers affected by the reshuffle includes:
- Amit Kumar Sinha: Special Principal Secretary for Sports and Youth Welfare, and Director of FSL.
- V. Murugeshan (1997 batch IPS): Additional Director General of Police (ADG), responsible for Crime and Law and Order.
- A.P. Anshuman (1998 batch IPS): Additional Director General of Police (ADG), overseeing CCTNS and Telecommunication.
- Karan Singh Nagnyal: Inspector General of Police, Security (Intelligence Headquarters).
- Rajiv Swaroop: Inspector General of Police, Garhwal Range.
