CM Yogi Directs Expansion of Mukhyamantri Krishak Chhatravritti Yojana, Approves ₹3,025.49 Crore Mandi Budget

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to expand the scope of the Mukhyamantri Krishak Chhatravritti Yojana to ensure that more meritorious children of farmers receive scholarship benefits.

The direction was issued during the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Uttar Pradesh State Agricultural Produce Market Council, where several proposals related to farmer welfare, agricultural marketing and the mandi system were approved. The meeting also approved a ₹3,025.49 crore budget for the financial year 2026-27.

CM Yogi Calls for Expansion of Mukhyamantri Krishak Chhatravritti Yojana

During the meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to widen the scope of the Mukhyamantri Krishak Chhatravritti Yojana so that more deserving students from farming families can benefit from the scholarship scheme.

The initiative aims to encourage higher education among the children of farmers while providing financial assistance to meritorious students across the state.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to make the scheme more inclusive and accessible to eligible beneficiaries.

₹3,025.49 Crore Budget Approved for 2026-27

The Board approved the revised income and expenditure estimates for 2025-26 and the budget for 2026-27.

The approved budget includes:

  • Estimated receipts: ₹2,228.59 crore.
  • Estimated expenditure: ₹3,025.49 crore.
  • Provision of ₹1,212.02 crore to speed up previously approved construction projects.

The budget allocates funds for strengthening agricultural marketing infrastructure and improving facilities across the state’s mandi network.

Mandi Committee Income Registers 15.7% Growth

Officials informed the meeting that the income of Uttar Pradesh’s Mandi Committees recorded significant growth during the last financial year.

The figures presented during the meeting showed:

  • 2024-25 income: ₹1,991.33 crore.
  • 2025-26 income: ₹2,305.80 crore.
  • Growth: 15.7%.

The increase reflects improved performance of the state’s agricultural marketing system and mandi operations.

Focus on Farmer Welfare and Rural Infrastructure

The approved budget includes funding for several infrastructure and development initiatives aimed at strengthening agricultural marketing and rural connectivity.

Key areas covered include:

  • Construction and expansion of mandi sites.
  • Construction and repair of link roads.
  • Development of rural haats.
  • Establishment of Kisan Bazaars.
  • Construction of cow shelters.
  • Hostel construction.
  • Land acquisition for Mandi Committees.
  • Other development works across the state.

These initiatives are expected to improve marketing facilities and support farmers by creating better infrastructure.

CM Yogi Pushes for Processing Units and e-NAM Expansion

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also directed officials to encourage the establishment of agricultural produce processing units within mandi premises through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

He instructed that the relevant rules be made more practical and investment-friendly to:

  • Help farmers receive better prices for their produce.
  • Promote value addition.
  • Generate employment opportunities in rural areas.
  • Encourage private sector participation.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to:

  • Expand the number of mandis connected to the e-NAM (National Agriculture Market) platform.
  • Link more farmers with the National Natural Farming Mission.
  • Ensure certification facilities for organic products in every district.

These measures are aimed at modernising agricultural marketing and promoting sustainable farming practices.

Interest-Free Working Capital Approved for Cooperative Institutions

The Board also approved proposals to provide interest-free working capital to various cooperative institutions.

The financial assistance will strengthen the procurement of:

  • Pulses.
  • Oilseeds.

The support will be provided under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) and is expected to improve procurement operations while ensuring better price support for farmers.

Government Focuses on Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Reforms

The decisions taken during the meeting reflect the Uttar Pradesh government’s continued focus on improving agricultural infrastructure, strengthening the mandi system and enhancing farmer welfare.

From expanding scholarship opportunities for farmers’ children to promoting processing units, digital agricultural marketing and natural farming, the approved measures are expected to contribute to higher farmer incomes, improved agricultural infrastructure and sustainable rural development across the state.
